5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific potato masher
I operate restaurants and often cater to large BBQs and groups...One of my special recipes calls for 30~40# of potatoes in their jackets to be mashed...I've tried all kinds of mashers before finding this one...I can do the ENTIRE flat in just a few short minutes...It's saved me tremendous time and I love it!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not that magical.
Despite having a nifty concept and solid construction, the whole "just rotate your hand in a circular motion" technique left me hanging. I was expecting it to slowly rotate around removing the need for me to twist or reposition the masher, but it hasn't worked out for me. Perhaps it depends on the bowl you use. But I still like it better than pounding the potatoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great little gadget..., December 2, 2007
This review is from: Chef's Planet Simply Mash Potato Masher (Kitchen)
This works best when you make potatoes, drain them and put them back in the hot pan until the sizzling stops. Then you put your butter and a little bit of milk in the bowl and the masher does the work! The potatoes are fluffy and don't turn into "glue" as can sometimes happen when they are over whipped. Sometimes I mash completely and often times I leave it kind of chunky style. Either way, it is great!

I don't usually get excited about kitchen tools, but I've been disappointed by the traditional potato masher. This one works great, fast, and easy. It's more finesse than elbow grease, and it's faster. I especially love that we can make potatoes for two or three and mash them well in seconds.

I really liked this potato masher for making chunky mashed potatoes- thought it did a good job at it (and had a 'cool' look to it too)! I just wish this tool was a bit heavier because it still took alot of elbow grease...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great masher...wrong color, October 26, 2009

This is a great product and I have no complaints. However, the item pictured is gray, and the one I received is white. This makes no different to me since I don't keep it out, but if you keep your utensils in a visible area and were expecting gray...that may not be what you get.

Still a great potato masher. Much easier to use and to clean, than the old-school models.

It doesn't take much force to mash, but the potatoes kind of get stuck in between the vanes. Works better on larger batches.

I didn't have a potato masher before this one, I used a ricer to make mashed potatoes. This little thing works great! With very little effort, it makes great mashed potatoes with virturally no lumps. I'm glad I bought it.

I read all the wonderful reviews, and wanted something that wouldn't scratch my nonstick pots, so I gave it a try. After using with merliton, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and avacado, I can say I'm unimpressed. As someone else noted, food sticks between the vanes. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad if they were less like fins and more like dowels, but I don't know. I do wish I hadn't spent the money on this and had chosen something more traditional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't be without it, February 8, 2009

I love this masher. You can turn the parts of the potatoes or whatever you are mashing toward the center of the bowl by simply rotating the masher. No more unmashed bits around the edge. I use it also for a baked applesauce and it does a superb job mashing the apples into chunky applesauce. Will probably buy a second one for the RV.
