I purchased the Chef's Rival after a demonstration at a local Kroger. I'm very happy with it. This morning I had eggs with red pepper, tomato, onion (no tears!) and cilantro chopped up in the mix. It took about two minutes or less to chop all the ingredients finely and make delicious scrambled eggs.
For lunch I had some chicken breasts I had cooked a few days ago. I broke up the chicken into two inch chunks, put in onion, celery, seasoning, and more red pepper. In two minutes or less, I had delicious chicken salad. It is important to "rock" the handle back and forth after you attach it if there are large chunks (like the chicken and onion), but after that, everything dices up very quickly with about eight to ten "stirs." I'm making salsa for a snack or coleslaw or putting together ingredients for a salad. It's just very easy to add vegetables to anything I'm eating now. It's simple to clean (a quick swipe in soapy water and a rinse); it's not heavy or bulky; and it has a very small footprint.

I also bought the accessories box which has a shredder, a slicer, and other accessories.

I use the Chef's Rival almost every day. Getting more fruits and veggies inside is much easier now, and I don't have the knife, the cutting board, the danger, or the tears any longer.

Verified Purchase
After having bought this chopper and mixer at a demo at a local grocer store here in Scottsdale AZ I had to buy one for my best friend as a gift as the chopper is unlike any I have ever had in that it REALLY WORKS and it is so easy now to make so many new things to prepare for dinner that use to be a pain to chop all up. It is super fast and can make a salsa in three minutes. The secret to this chopper is placing the blade in and then the veggies and then you must "rock and roll" it(move the handle back and forth shaking it a bit) to level out the veggies then presto chango in a minute you have cole slaw from scratch. WOW! It is sooo easy I have bought even four other of the same units for Christmas presents. YOu will love how this thing works REALLY! TRY IT! And hey if you have ever been on the SouthBeach food plan for health you will love this gadget as it will save you hours of chopping!

We got this because someone told us it was better for our veggie than our food processor, and I haven't had my processor out since we purchased it. It chops everything I have tried in it perfectly to whatever size I choose, never gets clogged up, and is really easy to clean. I even use it to clean my grapes really quickly and very easily. Looking to get one for my mom soon!

I bought through a store demo less than 4 months ago, because it looked similar to one i had from tupperware that lasted me over 12 years. After less than a week of use, there were cracks beginning to form and the silver coating had begun to rub off of the lid. Now less than 4 months later, i had to chuck the whole thing in the garbage because the bottom decided to fall out as i was making tuna salad with it. This was not a cheap piece of garbage either...I am kind of hoping i will be in the kroger again when they are demonstrating it, so that i can walk up and give an honest review and save several people from a mistake.

If you bought one of these things, it was likely because you were sucked in during an in-store demo or an infomercial. I am embarrassed to say that I, for the first time, succumbed to the dreaded in-store demo sales pitch and got stuck with the Chef's Rival Chopper at $29.99 plus tax. This thing is NOT for kids or old ladies. You will need sufficient strength to make it work. The construction is flimsy and you can easily misuse this device if you do not use it exactly the way it was demonstrated.

Ok, so here's the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The good:

The chopper does actually work if you follow the instructions to the letter and do not overload it. I guess I'll stick to chopping onions and making salsa.

The bad:

At $29.99, you can get a far superior product for less. I would suggest looking at competing products from a less shady brand, such as Starfrit, who is selling a much more ergonomic string-operated three-blade chopper at just over $20.

The ugly:

It's cheap Chinese plastic and I really doubt that Chef's Rival would honor any of their supposed warranties and guarantees. You cannot return it to the store if you bought it from a demo stand. The tactics used to sell this thing are so typical and people will fall for them again and again (my first time - doh! - but my last time). $29.99 is supposedly such an amazing price because it goes for $50 after shipping if you buy it via the TV offer. Please, this thing must cost $1 to make and for $50, I'd be buying a small electric food processor.

Do yourself a favor and look around before you buy this thing. There are better alternatives out there!!!

I bought mine at a very known name department store. I was sucked in by a man, in a chef jacket, saying that this product is wonderful and easy to use. I (the sucker) bought the product for 30 dollars. It was far from easy and the make was flimsy. The third time I used it, the plastic cylinder started to crack. Cracks started to form all around the plastic bowl. After a week, the whole bottom of the cylinder just broke off. I am very disappointed in this product. Do not buy it.
