This is a side-by-side comparison of ten "Spiralizer" products: Brieftons Tri-Blade Vegetable Slicer, Crafty Kitchen Tri Blade Vegetable Slicer, Kitchen Basics Tri-Blade Turning Spiral Slicer, Chef's Star Spiral Slicer, New and Essential Spiralizer Tri-Blade Spiral Vegetable Slicer, Abco Tech New and Essential Tri Blade Vegetable Slicer, Epica Manual Multi-Blade Spiral Vegetable Slicer, Jumbl Vegetable and Fruit Spiral Slicer Tri-Blade, Paderno World Cuisine Tri-Blade Spiral Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer, and Bitoni Spiralizer Tri-Blade Vegetable Slicer.

I was given all of these products to test and evaluate. My review of all of them is objective and was not influenced by the fact that they were supplied to me without cost. They are:

I purchased this slicer because it was the least expensive and I wanted to try it out. I figure, for the price, even if it doesn't last, at least I haven't made a big investment.

I tried it last night and LOVED it!!! Granted, it could be a little more sturdy, but hey, if I hated it, I'd hate even more having laid out a lot of cash.

I used the slicer to spiral slice zucchini on the finest setting. Even my husband was amazed at how perfectly it sliced. And super easy! I used the zucchini in a great dish - Shrimp, Chorizo, and Corn Saffron Noodles. I wish I could upload a photo of this beautiful, healthful, and delicious dish!! Anyway, I wouldn't call this a substitute for pasta (I'm Italian - there IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR PASTA!) but it was amazingly satisfying, zesty, and delicious! And it looked beautiful, too! I'm posting the recipe here, because you are going to want to try it!! I certainly can't wait to try more recipes with this!

Shrimp, Chorizo, and Corn Saffron Noodles

Ingredients

3 zucchinis, cut on the smallest spiral blade
1 large clove garlic, minced
2 chorizo sausages, cooked to rare and sliced into 1/4 inch pieces
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
salt and pepper, to taste
8 ounces shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/3 cup vegetable broth
4 saffron threads (or a small pinch)
1 tbsp chopped parsley to garnish
1 tsp chili powder
2 ears of corn

Instructions

Place the corn in a medium saucepan, cover with water and boil for about 2 minutes or until the corn is easily pierced with a fork. (Or microwave for about 2 minutes.) When done, pour into a colander and then scrape off the kernels with a knife over a bowl. In this bowl, place in the chili powder.

This is my 3rd purchase of the vegetable slicer because everyone that sees mine loves it. I make zucchini into spaghetti and replace that for my pasta and it is delicious. I make curly fries for the grandchildren and garnishes for salads. The possibilities are endless...can't live without.

We found this to be a really fun way to prepare curly French fries, zucchini "spaghetti noodles" and other fruits and vegetables. The zucchini noodles (uncooked) were quite a hit.

I haven't tried this with potatoes, but it works amazingly with Zucchini and squash. I'm not a huge fan of the way zucchini and squash taste, but spiralizing them or thinly slicing them with this device allows the other flavors to be sucked up by the vegetable and makes for delicious dishes. The spiraled zucchini can be used as a noodle substitute they are that good. It does require a bit of upper body strength to use, but nothing impossible, ever for weaker individuals. This is definitely a purchase I don't regret making.

When my product arrived it was fire engine red, not the white one shown in pictures. It functions fine for now, but it isn't the best quality so I don't expect it to last more than a year or two. In retrospect, I wish I sprung for a solid metal spiralizer so it would last much longer. It does make great veggie noodles, and is giving me creative new ways to cook all of the squash in the garden.

Very disappointed. The suction feet did not hold. The turn handle broke off and won't stay back on. No manual, so I had to guess which blade to use. It handles zucchini OK, but anything harder such as sweet potato or beets is very difficult to push through.
