Book Description

Kirkus Reviews --- “With his family, future and life threatened, an ex-Marine with a finely tuned moral compass takes on gangsters, corrupt politicians and the FBI.

Making his way through an airport parking lot, Bill Conors presses his vehicle remote to locate his car. An explosion rocks the building, destroys his vehicle and sets the stage for an action-filled series of events. --- Conors has poured his heart and soul into the reclamation project of the contaminated Boston waterfront neighborhood known as “the Chelsea Project.” --- When a mysterious toxic spill and a spectacular set of explosions threaten the project, Conors’ world is turned upside down. Stamp uses his keen ability for creating characters that are believable and engaging, despised or admired, to create a colorful cast of good guys and bad boys. The local mob boss steps up for a piece of the action; when he visits Conors to demand a cut, the visit turns deadly. --- With a sophisticated degree of tension, Stamp takes Conors on the run as he tries to stay ahead of the mob and the FBI, leaving his wife and family to believe he has been kidnapped or killed, all in order to protect them. He cunningly crisscrosses the country to avoid capture, culminating in a surprising and complex confrontation. Stamp skillfully weaves all the components of a fast-paced, hold-your-breath work of crime fiction into a novel that has it all: mobsters, government agents, crooked politicians and a good-guy-vigilante. A crafty, clever page-turner to the very end.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! May 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read a lot of books in this genre, and this is truly one of the better ones! Although at times Bill Conors seams a little bit too well trained for the situations that he gets himself into, the plot still woks well. I didn't know until the last few pages of the book how the author was going to wrap up the story and it caught me off guard. To me, that is what makes a good book. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Kept Me Reading! June 6, 2012
The plot of "The Chelsea Project" is fast moving, the descriptions are rich, and the action is well paced.

Corrupt politicians, the mob, the feds, and a colorful cast of friends and foes all contribute to this thoroughly engaging and believable story.

A lot of the plot takes place as the main character flees across the country in an attempt to save his business, his family and himself from being destroyed. Along the way, he turns out to be savvy and tough enough to be a formidable challenge to his pursuers.

The interesting settings and believable dialogue made me feel as if I were along on the run and not just an interested observer.

I was fully engaged in this book from the first explosion to the ending that was revealed only in the final pages.

This novel is a great read. I will be looking for more stories by this author.

The plot slowly but continuously built to the surprise ending. A lot of attention to detail, and a great imagination.

Great action that just kept moving. Great for anyone familiar with New England especially the Boston area. Twisting plot ties the old mob with corrupt politicians. Can't wait for more!

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book August 25, 2014
I really enjoyed this book. At first I had a little trouble keeping straight the characters as they were quickly introduced, but I soon found I did not want to put the book down. All of the main characters were developed enough for me to understand their motives and take an interest in what happened to them. The book is well written and obviously well researched as regards to police/FBI/environmental engineering/politics/mob etc. I am looking forward to the next book form this author!

More About the Author

I was the second of seven children and raised in a small New England coastal area that was bustling in the summer and then desolate for the rest of the year. Understanding that education was my ticket to better things, I was a good student, was awarded a BA in Chemistry and won a fellowship to graduate school that resulted in a Doctorate in Analytical Chemistry.

Applied my expertise in chemistry to the environment, starting with the cellars of Love Canal with their dioxin waste oozing from cracked foundations and onto the present day, evaluating the impacts of Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf oil spill. While my first jobs were running laboratories in Cambridge MA, I later founded an environmental consulting company that assists government, industry and law firms. Nowadays, most of my work is as an expert witness for criminal and civil litigation.

I was fortunate enough to marry the scientist in an adjacent lab at Grad school and am the father of two grown children. My wife is the first to read my work and is my toughest critic and biggest fan.

Cape Ann, Massachusetts is where I live, write, kayak and mountain bike. I'm presently working on the sequel to the Chelsea Project and another novel.
