Go with these filters, do not get the unbleached (brown) ones,

If you have a Chemex coffee maker these are the filters to use. The bleached (white) filters are great.DO NOT opt for the unbleached (brown) filters as they impart a VERY strong and unpleasant taste and smell of paper. Go with the bleached ones unless you like your coffee to taste like the paper towels you would find in a gas station bathroom (I'm serious, that's exactly what your coffee will taste like if you use the unbleached filters.)

Coffee Filters that work!,

I use these filters for my Chemex Coffee system. They are able to hold enough water and grinds at one time for about 4 persons and brew coffee in about 5 minutes from beginning to end. They do not shred and are easy to lift out of the conical top portion of the coffee maker without burning fingers. They fit perfectly into the coffee maker without the need for extra folding or trimming. My only problem is that I cannot find them at local coffee shops, so I can only purchase online. Not a problem, but that requires some planning ahead so as not to run out while waiting for delivery. Price is about right and these are about the best for brewing I can find, so they are my first choice for the present.

I've been using my chemex 10-cup for about 4 months, and I'm on my second box of these--I tried, actually, to find a different variety that would fit the 10-cup size, as coffee forums have been discussing folded/unfolded, bleached/unbleached. I can't compare these to any others but here are the things I've noticed so far:1. They are, as advertised, much thicker than normal coffee filters. They hold up well to a hot-water rinse (recommended) and tend to maintain shape. 2. It is difficult to impossible to get a "perfect" fit by opening a square to fit in a cone, but I'm not sure this affects the ultimate direction of filtration of water through coffee through filter. 3. I don't notice any papery or chemically taste to the coffee, but I've never used them without rinsing, and I've never tasted the rinsewater (both discussed frequently on coffee forums). An aside: the chemex will reveal dramatically the difference in quality of beans. It will not make the pound of beans you bought at DD taste like a pound from a specialty shop. If you're not that discerning, or you have a type of coffee you regularly buy, it will make the best cup of that coffee you can get. I switched from a bodum french press, and the coffee took some getting used to. Many of the flavorful oils will get filtered out, and a different profile will come through in a pour-over cup. I can only describe it as "cleaner," as switching back to the french press (with top quality beans, even) produced a coffee that now tastes muddy and murky to me, and those flavorful oils now seem harsh. Once you've made the switch, you really won't want to go back.

I purchased my first Chemex Coffeemaker CHEMEX 10 Cup Classic Series Coffee Maker about 8 months ago. My first filters were round, cone shaped ones that I bought at the grocery store. The water seemed to take forever to drip through them. Then I bought another cone shaped brand which was even worse since the bottom broke and I had grounds in my coffee. So I finally ordered these filters that are made especially for the Chemex. I got the unbleached ones first, but this time these white ones were less expensive so I ordered them. I don't notice any difference in the performance or taste of the coffee between the two. Both work well with their larger size. They're square and you fold over one section to make them fit in the top of the coffeemaker. With the 10 cup Chemex it's easier to lift them out than with the generic round type because you have something to grab hold of beyond the top. The coffee also moves through them at a respectable speed so I don't have to stand there all day waiting for my coffee. The only thing I can complain about it the price which seems a little steep for filters. But they're the best I've found for my coffeemaker so far.

I much prefer these square filters over the round ones. They are easier to handle (more paper to grab onto) and safer if you need to touch it when hot.

I have used a Chemex coffee maker since 1969 when I got married and recieved one as a gift from some musical hippy friends. I have loved it ever since and have loved the rich strong, clear coffee it brews. So...of course I use Chemex filters.

I love the Chemex for brewing drip coffee. Much of the magic of Chemex comes from the excellent scientific-style filter paper used in the brewers. These are really high quality and sturdy. Some may find they filter out more of the coffee oils than a method like French press. This is true, but it's also what helps to avoid bitterness and give the coffee a cleaner finish.

I have had a Krups Moka Brew Coffee Maker for over 1 Year. Every time I ran out of filters, I became annoyed because the filters were "Not Available" and severely overpriced. So I tried a couple of alternatives. You can purchase Chemex Filters --- From which you can cut 9 Moka Brew Size Filters from each 12x12' Chemex filter. That means that for the price of a single box of 100 Chemex filters (cost approx $10 on Amazon), you can create 900 Moka Brew filters (which cost approx $54 to $90 from Krups). Additionally, the Chemex filters make the Moka Brewed coffee taste better! The Chemex filters are really effective at removing the bitterness from the Moka Brewed coffee and you end up with a better brew.Alternatively, you can purchase a package of 5 Yama Cloth Filters (cost approx $6 on Amazon or Ebay) - which fit the moka brew perfectly. Each Yama cloth filter is reusable and will last approximately three months. Therefore a single package of 5 Yama Filters will last you for 15 months!!! Moreover, the taste of Moka Brewed Coffee with the either the Chemex or the Yama filters is substantially superior to the overpriced and constantly unavailable Moka Brew Paper Filters. The outstanding Chemex or Yama Filter alternatives solve the Krups Moka Brew Filter Problem - once and for all. FIVE STARS!!! to Chemex for providing outstanding filters that may be used to completely remove bitterness and improve brewed coffee in virtually any coffeemaker.

The Chemex is the best brewer out there. I collect brewers, and this is my favorite. It is bone head simple, looks good and the filters are thick enough to filter out even espresso ground coffee.
