It is what and why it is. Listen, if you love coffee, it means you adore CHEMEX, and if you have one of those iconic glass pots, and you must keep the liquid hot, as you have been commanded, you need this Gizmo from the far side of the world of modern Industrial Design to prevent the escape of steam. That's it.
Never mind the '50s, Dude. Its about the brew!

I got this for my 6 cup Chemex Coffee Maker, which makes 3+ mugs of coffee. This little lid-gadget is nice when we have guests, but we use it less than we thought we would. This is because the filter with grounds acts as a lid for the coffee. We just lift the filter out, pour a mug of coffee, then replace the filter with the grounds.
So, the lid isn't that necessary, but looks better than the filter with grounds if I'm keeping the coffee to serve for a guest |
