This review is from: Chemical Biology: Techniques and Applications (Paperback)
This book does not provide the basic knowledge of chemical biology. Neither does it cover biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, etc. Rather, it is a collection of introductions of advanced techniques and applications by leading researchers in their respective fields.
The scope of chemical biology is not defined yet; these techniques are under rapid evolvement. These bring in both challenges and opportunities in the quest of life with chemical tools. The book can be a very good entry point for bioscience/biotechnology researchers to pick up a certain technique, get a general idea of it, and move into the up-to-date references. It may also be used as a textbook for upper-level graduate students. Since the coverage is very concise, the students would have to get into the very current literature for more information. This certainly can do a good job in preparing researchers. |
