5.0 out of 5 stars To Hell with Lords of Acid! This has TKK written all over it!, April 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chemical Messiah (Audio CD)
For the unitiated, TKK is short for (My Life with the) Thrill Kill Kult, which is where Ruth first used the alias Cherrie Blue--a name inspired by Jackie Black. She joined the legendary ranks of the Bombganggirlz (again, legendary to the initiated) and did back up vocals in the Luna days of the Kult. This album was produced under the auspices of Buzz McCoy, and couldn't be farther from that washed-up techno-greaseball Prahn (or however you spell his loser name). OK, I'm being a bit hard on LoA, as they've got some great songs, but they've got nothing on TKK.

Anyway, this album is a tour de force akin to Thirteen Above the Night (buy it, if you don't have it!), as it displays the same range from heavy death-dance beats (like "a delicate terror" and "the velvet edge") to groovy death disco dance (like "Thirteen Above the Night" and "Disco Fleshpot"). Although Cherrie Blue will never replace TKK (in my heart at least), I would recommend this CD as a must-have to anyone interested in music that pushes the envelope. She's definitely one of the most talented songwriters in the popular music scene and consequently one of the least popular--so she needs our support! Buy this one and chalk it up as one for her...

4.0 out of 5 stars Where lords Of Acid should have gone !!!, November 17, 2002

This review is from: Chemical Messiah (Audio CD)
If you liked older Lords Of Acid music, then this cd will pick up right where The Lords left off before they became pretty much.......a rock band. All the elements are there with this cd, the sex, drugs, and and the staple electronic sounds of LOA past.Though Praga Khan isnt involved in this project, it still reeks of his influence.Chemical Messiah is a great cd and i hope to hear lots more from them in the future.
