While lacking in detail, I have found this book a good place to start when it comes to safety equipment and strategies for handling other problems with volatile organic chemicals. In this industry specialization is rare. Engineers need a place to start so that they can get the language right before proceeding to the internet and vendors. The worked-out problems are good but you will find you need to go to the source for details. As I said, a good place to start.

Clear, straightforward textbook describing quantitiative methods to evaluate a range of process safety issues. Appropriate balance of theory and application. Real world examples with solved problems. Not a coffee table book, but a valuable reference for process engineers and enviromental, health, and safety professionals.

The book was perfectly fine. It even arrived on time. The issue was the giant sticker on the front cover that was nearly impossible to get off. Not to mention the same sized sticker on the inside front cover, as well as another one on the first page... Oh, and there was a slightly smaller sticker on the back cover as well.

All these stickers were adverstising textbooksrus.com. My 'new' book was in great condition, aside from all the stickers that are now permanently stuck to it. In the item description it said this book 'may have some stickers on it.' Yeah.

If you intend to buy this book for college and then sell it back, be forwarned. There are at least four stickers on it.

The book are the best you can find about safety of process.
All the chapters represent the state of the art of knowledge of the specific argument.
Theory and practice are combined in a harmonious and unitary description.
Unfortunately is not available, for consultants and designers outside of academia, even for a fee, the solution manual.
And this, I think, is the MOST IMPORTANT limitation of the manual.

This book could definitely have used more examples with many practice problems. instead it had plenty of questions with assignment problems. no answers provided in the back of the book; therfore, there was no way to check your work. the book was well organized and definitely engineering related. not an easy subject.
