From the Back Cover

The first chemical engineering thermodynamics text for the computer age.

Chemical and Process Thermodynamics, Third Edition is an example-rich guide to chemical engineering thermodynamics that focuses on current techniques, new applications, and today's revolutionary computerized tools. You'll discover both the "how" and "why" of chemical engineering thermodynamics, and dramatically improve your problem-solving effectiveness with an extensive collection of sophisticated PC software. In this book/CD-ROM package, the software isn't just a useful adjunct: its use is thoroughly integrated into the text and amply illustrated with worked examples. Coverage includes:

  • The 1st and 2nd Laws of Thermodynamics
  • Fluid behavior and thermodynamic networks
  • Heat effects, equilibrium and stability
  • Phase equilibrium
  • Chemical equilibrium
  • Thermodynamic analysis of processes, physicomechanical processes and more
  • This brand-new Third Edition reflects newly-developed techniques and applications, includes a thorough treatment of complex chemical equilibria, and contains an entirely new chapter on the philosophy and practice of modeling thermodynamic systems. With many examples and over 500 problems, Chemical and Process Thermodynamics, Third Edition is the text of choice for professional chemical engineers, graduate and undergraduate students alike.

CD-ROM INCLUDED

The companion CD-ROM contains nine executable programs and three spreadsheets for carrying out professional-level calculations; POLYMATH numerical analysis software; EQUATIONS OF STATE software for visualizing thermodynamic processes on 3D PVT diagrams; supplemented text on statistical entropy; and more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid thermo book w/ some application, July 19, 2001
This review is from: Chemical and Process Thermodynamics (3rd Edition) (Hardcover)
This book is well written and explains thermo science in detail. Not only does this book teach the theory; it teaches how to apply the theory in the design of real chemical systems. This book is tough sleding...although not as tough as Sandler's book on thermo, which is also, in my opinion, and better book. I

My only real dislike of this book is the formating...I read this book for long hours at a time in my thermo class (it was one of three books required for the course) and I must say the text and page layout of the book really bothered me.
