Book Description

January 16, 1990 0471510440 978-0471510444 2
This is the Second Edition of the standard text on chemical reaction engineering, beginning with basic definitions and fundamental principles and continuing all the way to practical applications, emphasizing real-world aspects of industrial practice. The two main sections cover applied or engineering kinetics, reactor analysis and design. Includes updated coverage of computer modeling methods and many new worked examples. Most of the examples use real kinetic data from processes of industrial importance.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best and most advanced book on reaction engineering, May 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Chemical Reactor Analysis and Design (Wiley Series in Chemical Engineering) (Paperback)
This book is very comprehensive and advanced level. It is the only book you will ever need on reaction engineering. It thoroughly explains chemical kinetics and steady-state and transient reactor operation. It suited both for undergraduate and graduate students, although the graduate student will grasp the subtleties of reactor modeling better. It is extensively referenced with relevant scientific literature and contains ample current research on the topic. In comparison, Fogler's book will not serve you beyond your initial reaction engineering course and serves strictly undergraduate food.

5.0 out of 5 stars a book that always gives you new knowledge, December 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Chemical Reactor Analysis and Design (Wiley Series in Chemical Engineering) (Paperback)
This is a difficult textbook for undergraduate students and for those graduate students who only want to pass the exam by taking class notes. In fact, this a book you will never feel that you know enough about it. Each time you read it, you will find something new. Now, it is on my bookshelf and shows me what is the right approach of modeling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, September 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great book covering chemical reaction engineering. It focuses mainly on kinetics of heterogeneous gas-solid type but contains some material about homogeneous reactions and ideal reactors with many industrial examples. However, I don't recomend it for beginners, only for advanced reading.
