Chemistry of the Carbonyl Group, May 16, 2006
This review is from: Chemistry of the Carbonyl Group - Programmed Approach to Organic Reaction Method (Paperback)
A program for first and second year undergraduates in organic chemistry. This programmed text is written so that the student can teach himself the principles of carbonyl chemistry starting from the simplest addition reactions and ending with highly sophisticated syntheses. The approach is mechanistic and the book attempts to stress the logic behind carbonyl chemistry and to show how the basic principles applied in this field are also relevant in other areas of organic chemistry. The program may therefore be used as a text in the teaching of the principles of organic reaction mechanisms in general.
There are no multiple choice questions; the student is set a continually advancing challenge to his own competence. He is told what he needs to know before he starts, and each chapter has a list of new concepts required as previous knowledge.
