5.0 out of 5 stars Access code not supplied
I ordered this book 'NEW' from amazon because I needed the access code for "masteringchemistry.com". Book came without any code and it doesn't appear as if there was supposed to be one included. Yet the masteringchemistry website lists this book as one that contains the access code.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor textbook
After getting about halfway through this textbook, I've decided that it's not very good. The example problems in the text are very basic, and the explanations of complicated processes are weak. We are given VERY simple example problems in the text and complicated cumulative problems for homework.

Chapters 12 and 13 are particularly bad. I've never felt so lost...

This review is from: Chemistry: A Molecular Approach (2nd US Edition) (Hardcover)
This textbook is excellent and well written. It presents topics clearly and concisely. I recommend those who have not had previousexperience in Chemistry to buy this textbook, even if it's not required for your chemistry class.

The book was cheaper than the book that my school sells us. An all around good deal and timely shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK, HORRIBLE Mastering chem Code, December 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chemistry: A Molecular Approach (2nd US Edition) (Hardcover)
This book was purchased about 3 months ago. I really liked it because it tries to make chemistry (a difficult subject) easier. Chemistry will NEVER be easy, yet this book provides good ( not perfect) examples to making you understand this concept along with the notes your professor provides. My main concern about this is mastering chemistry. This program is HORRIBLE because you must write perfect. For example, when you must draw/label an element using this website, you must do it well or you will get it wrong and will lose points. Spelling counts and H20 (spelled here with a big 2 and a zero) must be spelled H subscript 2 and a letter "O". my point is if you do not need the code, DO NOT BUY the code because it also does not teach you how to solve the problems. It will only give you hints which will hardly help you. Another thing i would like to say is that again when you are writing the right answer, you will never know because it will say "5 attempts..4 attempts, etc. so again Spelling counts. The author of this book in the beginning four chapters will refresh your memory if you did (or did not) take introductory chemistry.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Textbook, September 17, 2011

I don't have much to say. The textbook is a textbook. I don't know many people that get excited about the content or appearance of these things. I'm really not sure why I'm asked to review the physical product since I returned it to buy the eBook instead. I used the eBook through the Mastering Chemistry website.

I had a great experience buying this book. The price was significantly cheaper than buying it new, and when I received it, the book was in great condition with no rough wear on the outside cover and no markings on the inside. Thanks!

Overall the textbook was in very good condition (solid binding, corners were not worn), but there was quite a bit of writing in multicolored pen inside.
