Book Description

3805559496 978-3805559492 September 1994
This volume provides a summary of the literature in the field of chemosensitivity testing as well as a practical guide to how to perform these assays. In the first section, overviews of multimodality therapy in gynaecologic oncology and of currently used chemosensitivity test systems for gynaecologic malignancies and breast cancer are presented. The second section discusses the following assays in detail: the clonogenic assay, short-term assay, extreme drug resistance assay (taxol resistance and MDR-1 expression), fluorescent cytoprint assay, MTT assay, DISC assay and in vivo test models. The final section of the book is entirely devoted to the ATP-cell viability assay (ATV-CVA), a technique which is attracting increasing interest. In addition, results of chemosensitivity tests are presented and future directions of these techniques are considered.
