5.0 out of 5 stars Cheo's timeless solo debut..in STEREO!!!, September 27, 2006

This review is from: Cheo (Audio CD)
This 1971 release remains one of the all-time most important Salsa recordings of the 1970s. It includes the timeless hit "Anacaona" as well as "Si Por Mi Llueve", "Esto Es El Guaguanco" and the gorgeous boleros "Pocma De Otono", "Pienso En Ti", "Franqueza Cruel" and "Mi Triste Problema". Even if you have the original CD you should buy this remastered version as it offers both much better sound quality and it's in STEREO. At long last we can hear Cheo Feliciano's timeless solo debut the way it deserves to be heard...with crystal-clear sound quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, December 28, 2009
This review is from: Cheo (MP3 Download)
I grew up with this album. I thought albums like this would continue to be made over the years but it became clear over time that this album was unique. When this album rolls (Mano Caliente, Esto es el guaguanco)you cannot sit still even today. His boleros (ballads) made me cry at age 13. Other tunes were deliciously sung in Cheo's cool knowing style (Pa que fin que).

Cheo at his best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic album by Cheo Feliciano., July 21, 2008
This review is from: Cheo (Audio CD)
If you want to familiarize yourself with this great vocalist and sonero, you must buy this album. It's one of his best.

Cheo Feliciano had been a veteran of many Latin sessions by Joe Cuba, Tito Rodriguez, the Alegre All Stars and many others. After recovering from an addiction to drugs, he released this album on which he is basically backed by the Fania All Stars. He gives it his all. It features great numbers and awesome boleros. A true masterpiece from start to finish!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, May 22, 2011

Cheo has a great voice. The instrumentation is minimal with what I hear as bass, vibraphone, piano, trumpet and rythm. This small combo really swings though. Great Album.
