long overdue,

Those few of us who know who Taxxi was, have waited a long time for this CD. For years, we have been looking in used record stores for this music. Many of us wrote to Fantasy Records asking them to put Taxxi on CD. Finally it is here. There's nothing new on this release so those of you who know what this is will love it. It is the best of their first three records; Day For Night, States Of Emergency and Foreign Tongue. Music from their fourth record (Expose)is absent since it was an MCA release. If you were a Taxxi fan, buy it!

Finally Taxxi on CD!!,

I was shocked to find this awesome collection in the used CD bin at my favorite audio store. A must for any 80's non-conventional listener. Taxxi created and fused rock and techno pop delicously. I have to agree that the production was a tad weak in regards to keyboards. Was surprise that Metro b.d was not on there or Lipstick.... but a great CD overall. Sherry.

weak synth,

After waiting so many years to hear some of my favorite songs by Taxxi on CD it sounded different. The bass was great, but I couldn't bring out the synth. It was as if some idiot mixer put it way back in the background. If I were Colin Payne I'd be steaming. Nevertheless who can complain, at least some of their catolog is out. Its minus a few of their best like Metro Boulet Dodo, however I don't have a wife to dance naked to it anyway as yet. Also, I Remember, another emotional song. Also Gold Digger, another jewel. The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, breaks my heart still and is on this compilation as some others.Definately worth getting as early 80's dance music.Maybe a little too raw for airplay as Nite City was more so.This is a guys disc from the beginning of New Wave in America.Too bad it had to end.Lets hope their back catalog comes out and the mixer from this production takes a hike. Long Lost Legends,

Taxxi is one of the great "lost treasure" bands from the Eighties, and Chequered Past captures their best work. While missing a few songs that belong here (including "Heaven & The Heartaches" from "The Secret Of My Success" soundtrack), this is the perfect collector's edition for serious students of well-crafted pop from this decade. Side note: former Taxxi drummer Jeff Nead is now driving Gum Machine, whose excellent CD "Extra Chewy" is currently available on Amazon.

Taxxi never was one of those amazing bands, but they always had those catchy songs on each of their four albums. The only really good song missing here is "Still In Love", which was on Expose, released by MCA. Not to say that Taxxi doesn't have great songs; they do! Their best album was their first, which had 3 great songs on it and they all made the cut to get on this greatest hits package. After the first album, there was a clear cut single on the next three albums and the rest of the songs just couldn't hold a candle to that single. There are 5 great memorable songs on this disc and they are "Whipping Boy", "Maybe Someday", "Cocktail Queen", "I'm Leaving" and "Girl". There are a few other interesting songs like "Not Me Girl", "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" and "You're so Pretty". Most of the songs have a good beat to, dare I say, dance to, although they are good songs to listen to in the car, also. The musicians are not stellar, but the songs are well mixed and produced. It was about time this came out, but I wish Fantasy would have worked something out with MCA to make this a complete Chequered Past. Relive a good part of the 80's club scene; take a Taxxi for a change.

The songs on this CD are all 5 star. In fact, every song this band ever recorded is 5 star. This collection however, is 3 stars. WHERE THE HELL IS "WALKING WOUNDED" the best song they ever recorded. In addition, the fourth and final album is not represented here at all. If you like Taxxi, you must buy this. I've been scouting long and hard to find the four albums individually released on CD. To date this is all you get.

I'm so glad to finally get this CD! It reminds me of growing up, high school parties, and a time when MTV was cool. I was surprised not to find ANY Taxxi songs/albums on iTunes... a crime really.
Thanks Amazon!

Finally.,

So happy to find some Taxxi on cd. I just wish I could get Expose on cd as that is my favorite album by Taxxi. Basically just some super cool, super grooving rock that should have been WAY more popular than it was. Do yourself a favor and give it a chance.
