If you're looking for your Cherokee roots, this concise and clear prose on how and where to do it is a vital tool. For anyone seeking a spiritual connection to the Cherokee soul I also recommend WALKING THE TRAIL by Jerry Ellis which chronicles his 900 mile walk along the Trail of Tears.

Whether you are researching Cherokee lineages or just wanting to be well informed on Cherokee history and culture, you need this book! I found it not only informative but compelling to read and so hard to put down that I read it completely by flashlight one night at a boy scout campout after getting the book from Amazon that day. I find this book informative on finding your Cherokee ancestors as well as making you feel proud of your heritage. It makes you want to learn more about being a Cherokee and honoring your cherokee family. From this book I have learned many things but most of all I learned of my Cherokee heritage and I am very proud of being a Cherokee. Good work Tony McClure.

This second edition is even better than the first! My Cherokee ancestry calls through this new book, which is complete with historical photographs and step-by-step details regarding how to find more about family history. Dr. McClure has bent over backwards to give us a way to find our people, the Aniyunwiya. Wado, Dr. McClure for your painstaking efforts and dedication.

The search for your Native American genealogy will no longer be filled with road-blocks because of the information contained in this extremely well researched and easy to use book. With the tips, etc., contained within these pages, you now know where to turn when you thought it was hopeless. Also, you can also learn more about your Cherokee heritage as you continue your search. This book is invaluable.

Quite possibly the most comprehensive collection of resources available for finding your Cherokee ancestors. The best I have seen for me to recommend to people for learning the history and culture of our Cherokee ancestors. It contains many previously neglected sources for further researching yet all is presented in a friendly, helpful manner. Almost like visiting over a cup of coffee with Dr. Tony Mack McClure as he shares his ancestral heritage.

Both of the Cherokee Proud editions( this one and the new 336 page 2nd edition which just came out in Dec. 1998- and also sold here by Amazon) provide everything anyone tracing their Cherokee bloodlines needs to document their ancestry. If the information contained in these books doesn't provide the help needed, nothing can!

I think the title says it all... great book if you want to learn about your Cherokee past.

This is a must have for those who are serious into looking into their Native American Ancestry. Its a great book!!
