Book Description

Elaina Morrison has loved Neil McManus her whole life. She doesn’t remember a time when she didn’t love him. Through heartbreaking tragedy and years of separation, her love holds true…until life stomps all over her heart, shattering her perfect dream, teaching her how hard it is to let go.
Real life doesn’t have anything on romantic dreams though, as these two have learned over and over again. It sucks big time, leaving painful scars in its wake.
But Neil isn’t giving up. He’s a soldier who has endured years of longing and sacrifice to wait for her. He’s fought his way through battles before and this is one he can’t afford to lose on any level.
Neil McManus is going in fighting to make Elaina see what he already knows.
That she will forever be his Cherry Girl…

Editorial Reviews

This is the kind of love story that stays with you.  The writing is stellar, the love scenes sexy and emotional. It has the perfect balance of drama, heart-wrenching romance, and just the sweetest love story in Cherry Girl.
This is a wonderful story, and any and all comparisons to the preceding books in The Blackstone Affair series are quite all right with me. :) Language, locations, alpha-guy, beautiful girl, sizzling sex...see, all good things to read more of! Neil is an enticing mixture of sentimental, considerate, responsible, and sexy! For some reason Raine Miller's dirty-talking British blokes are so fun to read!  I'm looking at Cherry Girl like a surprise gift.
My final thought is that this is Raine Miller at her best. A true gem. You will laugh you will cry (both happy and sad tears) you will love, get turned on and ultimately, be completely consumed by Cherry Girl.
I loved this story from beginning to end and every high and low in between!

No need to say much other than...just a beautiful love story involving Neil and his Cherry Girl who are characters we met briefly throughout The Blackstone Affair series.  I am a huge fan of Raine her writing style. She has a way of making you fall in love with her characters. You almost feel like you know them personally when she's done.

Verdict: Cherry Girl is a must read if you loved the rest of The Blackstone Affair series!! I have always wondered about this couple as we always saw glimpses of them throughout Brynne and Ethan's story but getting a play by play of how Neil and Elaina came to be from the start was... SO. WORTH. IT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cherry Girl is a Phenomenal Read!!! It is a Must Read!! December 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I sat down and started reading this book yesterday morning and could not stop until it I finished it. I read the entire book in one sitting. It was excellent. After having read Cherry Girl, all I have to say is that I love Neil McManus just as much as I love Ethan Blackstone!!! Wow!! Oh Wow!! Elaina and Brynne are two very lucky women to have such men love them as deeply as Neil and Ethan love them.

Cherry Girl was an extremely powerful love story, and went on to prove that true love really does stand the test of time, no matter what fate may throw in its path. This story goes to show that it is absolutely true that "And of these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

Now, I am dying to read the next chapter in Neil and Elaina's story just as much as I am dying to read Rare and Precious Things, the next chapter in Ethan and Brynne's story. Oh, and please let me not forget to add how much I am dying to read Ivan and Gabrielle's story!!!

If you are looking for an extremely well written book that is heartwarming, heart-wrenching at times, and extremely emotional all the time, then Cherry Girl is the book for you. Yes, you can read it without having read any of the other books in the Blackstone Affair, although I highly employ you to read the all the books in the Blackstone Affair as well, because you will not be disappointed. Raine Miller never disappoints her fans. She is a phenomenal writer and always gives her readers her best. Cherry Girl was absolutely phenomenal, and I thank Raine Miller for sharing Neil and Elaina's story with us, and I hope to continue to read about them along with the rest of the other characters in the Blackstone Affair in future books. I am also hoping that Ian Morrison gets his own story.

Very well done, Raine Miller!! Very well, indeed!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Love Story that Transcends Time December 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cherry Girl is another beautiful story from Raine Miller. This lady is a rock star in my opinion in that I have loved every book she's written. This is a standalone book that introduces us to Neil McManus and Elaina Morrison, two characters that we are introduced to in Raine's Blackstone series. If you've read the Blackstone series, we briefly meet Neil there as Ethan's right hand man working at Blackstone Security. In Cherry Girl, we get the full Neil, in all his beautiful glory.

Neil and Elaina first meet when a seventeen year old Neil comes to ten year old Elaina's house as a guest of her brother Ian. Elaina's family adopts Neil as a member of their family since Neil has no real home to speak of. Elaina falls in love with Neil when he winks at her across the table and so starts the love story. Neil joins the military after school and becomes SF special forces. When he is home on leave he visits with her family but primarily spends time with his girlfriend Cora who Elaina hates with a passion. All the while Neil stays in contact with Elaina but treats her like a sister. Tragedy strikes Elaina's family and her whole life changes.

When Elaina is 18 Neil comes home on leave and the dynamic between him and Elaina shifts. Their feelings for each other are finally expressed and their love story finally starts. But outside forces seek to tear them apart and Neil and Elaina are pulled apart for 5 long years. Fate decides to step in and bring these two back together and their road back to each other is just beautiful.

"I opened my eyes and traced over every part of his features, as beautiful now as he'd always been when he was a boy of seventeen and winked at me over the dinner table.

“Neil was beautiful to me when I laid my child’s eyes upon him for the first time. Purely and simply beautiful.”

When I finished this book I was speechless for words. The emotions, nostalgia, and the journey Neil and Elaina endured touched my soul. This is Raine Miller at her best. Just when I thought she couldn’t get any better she writes this book that filled me with so much love and emotion. I just love their story. I felt as if I was there with them living every single moment, the good ones and the bad ones.
Elaina has been in love with Neil since forever. In fact she doesn’t remember not loving him.
The book also has lots of humor and we get to see Ethan as a secondary character before he met Brynne.
The steamy scenes Raine Miller style with lots of steam and love, always emotional, intimacy at its best.
I highly recommend this book and even if you haven’t read the other Blackstone Affair books, this book can be read as a standalone.

More About the Author

A New York Times bestselling author who has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too. Granted, Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. Ever! Writing books pretty much fills her days now and she's always busy. Raine has a prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. She loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books. You can connect with her on Facebook or visit her blog at to find out what she's working on now.

More about Raine Miller

Q. What inspires your writing?
A. So many things. Art, a photograph, a portrait, poetry, movies, songs, books, historical events, notable people, a friend, a colleague...and the list is never-ending.

Q. Why do you like to write historicals?
A. I guess mostly because of the nostalgia of the past. It is an escape for me to think in a world where communication existed only in real face-to-face time or in a letter. Social graces were not only an art, but a survival skill. Interaction with another person was downright intimate in a way it can never be today. I also find great joy in writing my stories. It is as entertaining to write them as it is to be lost in a book you can't set down.

Q. What is your favorite quote?
A. "I almost wish we were butterflies, and liv'd but three summer days. Three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain." JOHN KEATS...1819 (sigh) Need I elaborate?

Q. How do you plot out your stories?
A. I picture the scenes like a movie in my mind. I go on long walks with my ipod and just process through storylines in my head. As soon as I get home I run up to my computer and jot down my ideas so I don't forget. I've worked through many a troublesome plotline while on a walk. Solitude works for me.

Q. Who are some of your favorite authors?
A. JR Ward, Megan Hart, Elizabeth Hoyt, Ken Follett, John Grisham, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, John Keats, Robert Herrick...What I wouldn't give to have all of those writers together in a room.

Q. What has becoming a writer taught you?
A. A healthy respect. That's: R - E - S - P - E - C - T! I am humbled by anyone who wrote before the word processor and Google were invented. There's no denying that writing is hard work, but to imagine how Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice with a feather quill pen makes my brain hurt.

Q. Any pearls of wisdom for aspiring writers?
A. Write what you love--your voice will come through. Write every day--your creative mind needs exercise. Never give up your dream of becoming a writer. Everyone loves a good story and if you can write one, people will always want to read it.
