I was extreamly disappointed in this copy of the Cherrypickers Guide II. For the price, I was expecting a lot more. The text doesn't resize, there is no table of content, and the page function doesn't work so that you have to know the location of what you want inorder to find any thing. Also every other page is blank so it makes the document double the lenght.

Cherrypicker's Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins isn't for novices: it tells avid collectors how to cherrypick rare coins, culling a collection of normal coins for the rare characteristics and issues that make for unique acquisitions. This 4th updated edition represents the 2nd volume: it covers half dimes to modern dollars, gold, commemoratives, and packs in the black and white photo close-ups of marks and dies which make identification of smaller marks a snap. Reviews of collector holdings, varieties of coins, and discussions and arguments within the collecting community over the cause of marks enhance a lay-flat binding with spine lettering perfect for frequent consultation or library shelving. A top pick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Slugs and Punches, October 11, 2006
This review is from: Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins: Volume II (Official Whitman Guidebooks) (Spiral-bound)
This is the Bible for anyone who collects coins. Look at your coins carefully. You never know when you'll find a coin that has a Wonderful Mint Error. I've found several mint errors in my collection, a couple of which I had varified. Unfortunately nothing really glaring, but did raise the value of a few enough to keep me looking. I haven't looked at 1/3 of my collection. You coin collectors need to have this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last it is here!, September 13, 2006
This review is from: Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins: Volume II (Official Whitman Guidebooks) (Spiral-bound)
I have about worn out vol one waiting for vol 2 to show up but the wait was worth it. Great pictures and the new format is better and more useable. Every true collector of US coins, needs this book sitting on their desk. Thank you gentlemen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the followup to Vol. 1, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins: Volume II (Official Whitman Guidebooks) (Spiral-bound)
This is a followup to volume 1 of the Cherrypickers guide. It includes many newer items such as the two varieties of the Wisconsin 2004-D quarters that sell for a three figure sum. The varieties listed are coins that might be found in circulation. This volume covers coins from 10 cents and up. Volume 1 handled the lesser face value coins. The downside to this reference is that a microscope is required to find many of its "cherrypicked" coins. It is, however, a useful reference for the more advanced coin collector.

I have used spiral bound hard copy, and find it supperior in every way. It is not a large book so it is easily carried and looking up coins up is much easier.

Recommended for the seasoned collector and new people to the hobby. Just one find from the Cherrypickers' Guide will pay for the book and hopefully more.
