A Keeper,
By Queenie (Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Chesapeake Series: Sea Swept / Rising Tides / Inner Harbor / Chesapeake Blue (Mass Market Paperback)
A Story of love, acceptance, and life. Four brothers who are joined by faith and not by blood. Four great stories the promise of a life time beginning with one little oath. Love and a brotherhood that would have never been if it was not for a single vatal moment. Four brothers that will come to rescue at the least sight of trouble.
These four stories were the best series -in my opinion- Nora Robert has ever written. It'll bring tears to your eyes like no others did. Sea Swept: Cam, a man entitled to a life full of wild race was forced to come back home to discover that his adopted father is on his death bed. Swearing that he and his brothers will take care of another Quinn Stray, Cam got more than he ever asked for. Anna Spinelli, a full-willed woman works for the Social Service and is the case worker for Seth. Doing what she does best, she tumbles into the world of Quinn men who stands for the motto: "You mess with one Quinn, you mess with them all" Rising Tide: Ethan Quinn comes from the bottom of the pit. Being abused and neglected so many ways, he has the patient of a saint. Ethan has come to believe that he should not have any relationship whatsoever because of what he is. The blood he has. And all it takes is pretty Grace Moroe to change his opinion on love. Inner Harbor: The story of Philip Quinn who has lived the first decade of his life on the street. Mr. Prime and Proper. Philip has always been the 'detail man' taking care of lawyers, social workers, he thought he can handle it all. That's until Sybill comes along and test it. Sybill is a very logical person. So imagine what she thinks when she finds that love, is anything BUT logical. Chesapeake Blue: The story of Seth Quinn, the final and last of the Quinn Brothers is not as 'stray' as you think. Being a blood Grandson of Ray Quinn, and the son of Gloria DeLauter has its burden. He thought he has gotten rid of her. But he hasn't. Addicted to money and alcohol, she decides that it's time that Seth pays her back for all she has done for him... Drisulla isn't your average person. Coming from a wealthy family she has a lot of expectation, etc. She grew up with out feeling of ever being loved. And Seth Quinn, will change and turn all of that around for her. All, in all, this was the best series I've ever read. The third one didn't really all that interest me because Sybill is so boring...I loved the fourth one the best. You get to see how Seth's character has developed from when he was ten and when he's an adult. You also get to see what the family has done for him, and how he learns that you don't ever repay a person for the love he or she has given you.

I've always enjoyed reading Nora Roberts books involving siblings, but this is by far the best series I've ever read. I loved how she took 3 very different men, with very different stories and made them the close knit family that they were. Then throwing in Seth, the hurt little boy who wants nothing more than to know love and his place in the world. I loved most that Cameron, the quick tempered bad ass,Ethan, the quiet, thoughtful waterman, and Philip, the sophisticated businessman are all raising Seth. It starts out as a mere promise,an oath between brothers and then blossoms into a love that can't be broken.
I loved all the books equally. I loved to read how each brother interacted with Seth,he's feelings on living with them...wanting nothing more than to be family to them. It was just a beautiful thing to read. Ms. Roberts also created strong women to go along with these strong men and it was wonderful to watch the relationships take flight. Finally, the series ended with Seth's novel. To know that he grew up and his brothers were older was great. You got to see the man he became b/c of them and how much his family means to him,the sense of pride they felt @ the person they helped to create. It's a wonderful series. All of the Nora Roberts series are fantastic but if you read only one series, let this be the one.

I really liked these books. The stories are so well told. I could really get a feel for what the characters were like. I love reading about a romance from the point of view of the man because men are so often stereotyped as not showing as much emotion and such. Reading this really shows you how much they often do care, even when it's difficult for them to show it. And that just makes my heart melt.

I've enjoyed many of Nora Robert's books and this one is a definite keeper. I fell inlove with each of the Quinn Brothers and it was great watching three men who were already a unit make room for a young boy and getting to see a bit of him in each one of them. Definitely my favourite of all her series.

Roberts best,

I absolutely fell in love with the Quinn brothers. My daughter has as well. Would love to these characters brought to life in a mini-series on Lifetime. I also would love for Ms. Roberts to do Ray and Stella's story.

I like the way Nora Roberts allows you to follow her characters through a series. You get a longer "visit" with the characters. This is one of her best. Rich story telling. Loved this series, loved the characters. thank you Nora Roberts!

Forget about simply being confined to the Romance genre. These four books are on a par with any top notch novelist. The writing is beautiful and the characters incredibly compelling. Roberts has written four achingly beautiful heartbreaking and ultimately redemptive books about the triumph of the human spirit over all forms of darkness, hurt and abuse. I loved that four men from such broken pasts and four women who have endured their own kind of cold and heartbreak could find the faith to find love. These are novels of depth and passion and of such terrific human insight that they can be read and re-read and savored year after year. Bravo!

This series is a definite must read. The Chesapeake Bay Series Is what got me hooked on Nora Roberts Books. The story lines are great. The characters are awesome. You just have to keep reading until you find out what happens. Each story is completely different yet, each one is linked to the others in a way that only Nora Roberts can portray. You don't know what you are missing if you don't read it.

Great stories, love these brothers, the best series (4 books) Roberts has written,

I love these brothers. This series of books is my very favorite from Nora Roberts. Each brother's story (each has their own book, 4 in all) is a wonderful gift from the author. The relationship between these adopted brothers is marvelous and funny. I wish Ms Roberts would write more books mostly about men and their relationships and as in this set of stories the women should be secondary to the main plot of the brothers and how they get along and solve their problems. Each of the 4 books of this series are a really enjoyable read. Roberts writes men and their relationships very well, very entertaining books. I am reading the Blood Brothers now, a 3 book series with men as mostly the main characters but they are not as humorous as the Cheasapeke Bay series brothers due to the evil resident spirit they are batteling. I like Ms. Roberts' books but prefer, by far, the ones she writes that feature men as the main character. MORE stories featuring MEN Ms. Roberts, less about women even in the men featured books and you will have me for life.
