= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Chess Crusade - Nintendo Wii (Video Game)
It has nice cutesy graphics.
Where this game lacks is the variety of play. Local multiplayer is available, but if I have a friend in the same room I'd rather play on a real board. The computer is competent, if not amazing. Better computer programs can be found for free on the internet, but this one isn't horrid by any means.
The problem is the game lacks online play. You can only play the computer so many times. Being able to play people all over the world would be the saving grace of any chess game, perhaps with some kind of ranking system so you can go against people of equal skill. Here, sadly, no online play exists whatsoever.
There's nothing "wrong" with the product as it exists. It delivers a decent chess experience. But frankly you can only play against the same computer A.I. so many times before it becomes boring.
I suppose it might be a good game for a young child learning chess, who would enjoy the animations.
