4.0 out of 5 stars All the history of a great event, July 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Chess Olympiads (Hardcover)
The Oympiad commenced in 1924 in Paris and continues to today. The best part of Foldeak's book is to watch the progression of the players over the years, ( e.g.Miguel Najdorf playing for Poland before 1939 and for Argentina post-1945; Gideon Stahlberg playing for Sweden at Board 1 for over twenty-five years; phenominal scores by Tartakower and Rubinstein, not to mention Keres and Aljechin!) A nice book with a minor cavill about the unusual diagram design only.
