The simple controls offer 25 timer modes (3 of them user programmable) including Hourglass, Blitz, FIDE/ECU/Traditional Tournament, Fischer, Bronstein, Delay and Word Modes. The 4-way control pad offers easy mode selection and editing, and the two large LCD displays feature digits 17mm high. I am US Chess Federation candidate master ( current rating 2188) and have been playing casual and competitive chess since I was 7 years old. I have been using pretty much every analog and digital clock which is currently on the market.
I consider new chess clock from Saitek : Competition Pro Game Timer to be a top of the line chess timer. It has all the functionality, yet it is economical enough to compete with other brand names like Chronos and DGT. I recommend it to clubs and individuals. It comes with time delay feature which is a must in Major US Chess tournaments (like World Open, Chicago Open, Foxwoods Open,etc.)

This is the first chess timer I've owned. I'm using it to build my son's experience with timed and untimed games. This timer, including the stop buttons, is hefty, well-constructed and very solid.

The user interface isn't readily intuitive, but can be mastered in 10-15 minutes with the help of the instruction manual. There are extensive programming options for the hardcore player. My son and I use the timer with enjoyment for 5-15 minute speed games.

I love this digital chess clock. Much easier to use then the DGT chess clocks. I am so glad I had a choice.
