The following review will be the same for all the differing colors of ChesseX Polyhedral 7-Die Translucent Dice Set.

ChesseX offers eleven (11) different colors of 7-die Polyhedral sets, one of the best selections of gamer dice offered and excellent for each player to have their own distinctive set. I prefer the green, but have a blue set as well. But with so many choices it is easy to pick your favorite or an easy compromise.

I prefer the translucent to solid color die mainly because there is something bout the slightly luminous background of the translucent plastic that sets off the black numbers better, making them easier to read and providing a more pleasant gaming experience.

Accuracy on random number generation is important. I got my undergraduate statistics students to test the ChesseX die with 1,000 throws, and the quality report came back: EXCELLENT. These are die that throw random numbers from their possibility set.

The slightly rounded edges make for clean throws and firm resting stops, although the inherent composition of the plastic makes them bounce pretty easily off a Formica table. These die work better on cloth surfaces.

Chessex makes great dice sets and this purple set is no exception. We have several of these sets in different colors since each player wants their own for those "life and death" rolls. The set includes:

- One 4 sided (1d4), usually for rolling damage caused by small weapons or minor magic attacks
- One 6 sided (1d6), this is a "normal" die, usually for rolling damage caused by normal weapons
- One 8 sided (1d8), usually for rolling damage cased by larger weapons and more powerful magics
- Two 10 sided (1d10 + "Percentile"), the 1d10 is used like the other dice by itself, but when used with the one marked in "10s" they become "percentile" dice capable of rolling numbers from 01 to 100 (000)
- One 12 sided (1d12), usually used for rolling damaged caused by major attacks
- One 20 sided (1d20), typically the "attack" die used to roll the base number for offensive action

These are good quality and seem to produce random results. For those that need "bulk dice", consider Chessex Dice: Pound of Dice (Pound-O-Dice) Approximately 100 Die.

They do what they are mean to: they roll numbers for DnD games and other RPG's.

There are some doubts regarding Chessex's quality but I will say this: unless you're rolling the dice just to see if they are truly random you won't notice it and if you are doing that then you're not playing RPG's and that's just wrong.

Yes, I bought them for their looks and they look great, the color is truly magnificent while still being easy to read. Much better than some solid dice or crappy graphics that will just fade away but that's a personal opinion but it does help make them for great stand-ins for plot items and treasure and that's something you should think about, especially if you're a DM that likes props but doesn't like carrying too much stuff around.

I just wanted a fun little extra in our 10 year olds stocking and he has had fun with this set. He especially liked the fact that it comes in a box for storage.

These are very well made and come in a little plastic case that fits the set perfectly. I believe we received more than just the 7 that are shown! The set arrived very quickly - and it was ordered immediately before Christmas.

From our experience, I would highly recommend the Chessex dice to anyone looking for a set like this, whether for gaming, math applications, for show/just to play with (as I believe will be the case in our home, at least for awhile.) The price was much less than could even be found on ebay.

I got this for my 8 yr old, he was surprise of the shapes and loved the color. We had a turn each for 10 times and kept the records on a piece of paper, this is helping him adding by regrouping and thinking faster, at the end we get the totals and the winner has the highest score.

Great dice. Nice base kit for a stellar price. The dice have a perfect translucent clarity.
Now, if only i could roll perfectly.... hmm.

I'm an old time pen and paper RP gamer. I prefer the tactile joy of dice over a game controller. So, I purchased the Translucent Polyhedral dice set. It contains 7 dice (d4, d6, d8, (2) percentile dice, a d12, and a d20). They come in a rainbow of colors so that each player can choose a set that is close to their favorite color.

The dice are smooth to the touch with rounded edges. The colors of the dice are vibrant and the numbers tend to "pop"; there are no excess paint drops, and I've found no mould marks on these dice or any air bubbles in them.

I find that they tend to "over roll" on cloth surfaces, or bounce/skid on really hard surfaces. I roll mine on a thick paperback which seems to work just fine.

I have sets of dice that are 20 years old and still going strong. The price is really good and I have no problem recommending these dice to other gamers.

These dice sets are attractive, cheap, and serve their purpose. I have several sets so I can hand them out to players for our sessions. Not as bling as some, but work well for my needs.
