Superior Dice,

This review is from: Chessex Dice: Pound of Dice (Pound-O-Dice) Approximately 100 Die (Misc.)
I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the purchase of the Pound-O-Dice mixture bag from Chessex. The dice have few if any problems with the quality (scratches, paintjob) and have no irregularities in rolling. I got an extremely large sum of dice for what I paid, making this buy highly recommended. In my pound I got:
D4=7 D20=21 D8=7 D6=58 (of that 37 miniature dice) D10=23 Plus a complete set of dice for a grand total of 132 dice. With the bag estimate at around 100 dice, I got quite a lot of dice over that (probably because of the small weight of the mini-dice), and am well satisfied. I recommend this purchase greatly. Lastly, thanks for reading my review.

This product is AWESOME. I'd spend easily 3x as much buying this much dicage at my local gaming store. Also, as a female gamer, it's nice to be able to buy them online and not get the 'alien stare' when I shop for dice. There was only 1 unusable die in the bag (a malformed d6), but it is a great marker for my character, so it's no loss for me. I definitely recommend this product to ANYONE looking to increase their dice collection, or get their first big haul. I will DEFINITELY be buying this again when I want to get more dice.

As you can probably surmise from the 100+ other reviews, the key to your enjoyment of this product is managing your expectations up front. This is a random collection of extra / factory 2nd / flawed dice that Chessex has decided to sell at a discount as an alternative to throwing them away. The quality, color, design (translucent vs solid, etc), size and number of each face count is completely up to chance. It seems pretty reasonable to expect that you will at least see every die in the standard RPG 7-die polyhedral set represented at least once or twice, but actual numbers of any given type of die could be as low as zero (see the reviewer who only wanted d4 and got none) or as many as 25+.
So, if you have specific desires regarding color, number of sides, etc., then this is more of a gamble than a bargain for you, and you should instead buy exactly what you need, be that a full set of dice, like the Polyhedral 7-Die Translucent Dice Set - Green, or a multi-set of a certain type, like the Twelve Sided Dice - D12 - Random Group of 10 Twelve Sided Dice. I share the game geek fascination with dice, and a large quantity of different-sided dice looks tempting, even when most of them are individually ugly. Plus, this set looks like a bargain at approximately 100 dice for the price, but if you only get a few dice you actually use, then you've paid extra for a lot of clutter and are better off getting fewer total dice, but exactly what you need. So who should buy this product? Somebody who just needs scads and scads of dice of all sizes without regard for appearance or quality; e.g., DM/GMs whose groups regularly lose or forget to bring their dice, people who host tournaments, parents of young children, or geeks (I use that term lovingly as a fellow member) who just want to run their hands endlessly through big piles of dice. Even for non-RPG applications, such as wanting extra dice for wargames or miniatures games, I would recommend getting the specific size you need, so you don't end up with 25 d6s when you really needed d10 and d12.

The pound of dice is a fairly awesome thing to get when you have a lot of new gamers in the group, and you want dice on the cheap.
If you buy a Chessex 7-die set from a store, its right around $10.00 USD. However, with a "pound of dice", each die costs less than 50 cents apiece - so for the same price, you could get 20 or more dice. Take into consideration, though it will NOT be 100 dice. My average over 3 pounds of buying is about 60 dice in each bag. This 60 dice also included the "super-mini D6s",which are normally deformed, or have a hole drilled in them, or are otherwise useless. They will account for about 10-12 of the 60 dice in a bag. Also, these sets are habitually shy of D4s - you will have a lot of D6s and D20s, though, and will probably get enough matching D10s to make a Vampire set. My suggestion : Buy 3 pounds. Open them, pour them all together. COUNT THE DICE! Write down that number. Take out and count the mini- D6s. Do what you want with them - I normally give them away. Sort dice - you'll often get some partial sets. Finally, contact Chessex - the official word I have from their sales department is that they are supposed to contain 80-100 Dice each. If you buy 3 pounds, and you get less than 240 dice, then you should call, and ask politely if maybe they will provide you some more dice. They sent me a nice little care package of about another half pound of dice. Don't forget that each pound of dice comes with one complete 7-die set. Its white with color speckles - so far I've gotten two light blue, and one black speckle.

Variety of Dice, but Not Much Variety in Style,
This review is from: Chessex Dice: Pound of Dice (Pound-O-Dice) Approximately 100 Die (Misc.)
Here's the distribution of my Pound of Dice (not including the 7 die set):
d6s with pips: mini - 8 regular - 13 large - 1 d4s - 7 d6s - 11 d8s - 9 d10s - 17 d%s - 6 d12s - 7 d20s - 19 All of the dice are usable, and the only flaw (other than some very minor paint issues) is that there is one blank side on two of the d6s with pips. The other five sides are filled in so they are still usable though it might be inconvenient. The enclosed set was white with red specks. The only reason I gave four instead of five stars is that almost all of the dice I received (excepting the d6s with pips) were speckled. Here's the style distribution: d6s with pips: -mini - 2 clear, 6 colored/clear -regular - 9 solid, 2 colored/clear with glitter, 2 marbleized -big - 1 solid d4s - 3 speckled, 1 colored/clear with glitter, 3 marbleized d6s - 8 speckled, 1 marbleized, 2 with two unmixed solid color halves d8s - 7 speckled, 1 marbleized, 1 solid d10s - 14 speckled, 2 speckled with two unmixed different speckled halves, 1 solid d%s - 4 speckled, 2 solid d12s - 5 speckled, 1 solid, 1 with two unmixed solid color halves d20s - 18 speckled, 1 solid I received the product on the estimated day.

D4:5
D6:27 D8:8 D10:25 D12:5 D20:21 Tiny D6:7 Unusable:2 Total Dice:100 I got some great dice, and i got some ugly dice. I got a lot of d10s and d6s, which is good. You need a lot of d10s for white wolf games. However, i'm puzzled as to how i'll use so many d20s. Anyway, the distribution + the overall quality of the dice gives this a solid 3 stars. I think you could do much better buying the dice you want individually or in bulk form online, but if you're looking for a random pack of dice that will probably cover most of your gaming needs, this is a decent way to swat the problem with 1 purchase.

I bought 2 bags..,
This review is from: Chessex Dice: Pound of Dice (Pound-O-Dice) Approximately 100 Die (Misc.)
So i bought 2 bags of this on the off chance that I would not receive a lot of one specific dice, I think it was a good move. My totals are below for 2 bags:
D20 - 50 D12 - 11 D10 - 33 D8 - 21 D6 - 33 Numbered D6 - 34 Mini Dice D6 - 27 Dotted Dice(pipped) D4 - 11 220 Random Dice Total. + 2 Packaged Bonus sets. ( One in an Oreo White/Black , the other in a Cloudy white/sky blue twist ) As you can see it is a bit of a lottery one of these bags i think i had 3 D12's and 2 D4's, luckily the other bag saved it and brought it to an acceptable level of both. I think i got a little bit unlucky with my D20's every other type of dice I got an excellent variance of color, but my D20's all are basically White Oreo Sprinkled type dice, or hard colored sprinkled. No hard color neons or see through type dice. Overall I am greatly satisfied, I easily have enough dice to run a large table of D&D now, it is a solid investment if you are a RPG gamer.

A Super Collection,

This review is from: Chessex Dice: Pound of Dice (Pound-O-Dice) Approximately 100 Die (Misc.)
Chessex Pound-of-Dice really put a smile on my face. Each bag contains about 100 dice (the actually number may vary since the number is determined by weight) in all shapes and sizes. Included are D4s, D6s, D8s, D10s, D12s, and D20s. Most of the dice I received in the bag I got were speckled or mottled, but I imagine that may change depending on what Chessex has an excess of. I'd really recommend this to DMs who are just starting out. This will give you a really good starting collection of dice. I'd also recommend this for parents of elementary school children or school teachers. The dice can serve as colorful teaching tools for elementary school math and can even be used for teaching young children about the concept of probability.
