Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"I recommend my patients read this helpful book so that they can better understand chest pain." -Arthur S. Palmer, M.D., cardiac surgeon "Heart attacks and strokes are the number one cause of death in the United States. Each of us needs to know our risk and what chest pain means. Written clearly for anyone (from layman to physician) by a renowned clinical cardiologist with over forty years in practice, this book will do precisely that." -Martin Grais, M.D., cardiologist Albert J. Miller recognized the need for a nonprofessional's approach to the subject of chest pain after his patients continued to borrow his book Diagnosis of Chest Pain, which he had penned for physicians and medical students. Chest Pain, the offspring of Miller's previous book, is devoid of complex medical jargon and is ideal for doctors and nurses to use for patient education. In this easy-to-understand guide, the author explains the large number of possible causes for chest pain and the types of pain that could signal danger. Albert J. Miller, M.D., is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and is in the clinical practice of cardiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is also a professor of clinical medicine (cardiology) at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a former president of the Chicago Heart Association, is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and has spent much of his career in clinical practice and research related to cardiology. He has authored more than one hundred medical papers and has long had an interest in the study of chest pain. He lives in Highland Park, Illinois, with his wife, Gwen. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and Educational Resource, August 6, 2009
Chest Pain: When and When not to Worry is an excellent resource for those with a personal or family history of cardiac problems and for those who tend to worry about aches and pains. The book is clearly and entertainingly written and will give the reader resources for differentiating benign chest pain and serious pain in need of medical evaluation. The book is also entertaining, because of the writer's use of interesting clinical anecdotes, and it is broadly educational. It's a good book to have on hand if you are a worrier or have reason for concern about chest pain.
