I had to throw this away - i bought it to try in my fire place. I used it once and all the black coating came off!!! The popcorn was even covered in it. I just threw it out

Quite simply, it does the job but it is a bit flimsy. A minor thing was the knob was not pre-drilled properly so the knob didn't screw on all the way. Also, the handle could stand to be a bit longer. It got us thru the night but if you are a diehard roaster, invest in a heavy-duty one.

Worked okay, but not really heavy duty enough for an open fire. The grommets on handle melted off during the first use, but were easily replaced with machine screws and nuts. The wooden handle on top tends to catch on fire and the metal clasp on front comes off a little too easily. With that said, though, we have had a lot of fun roasting chestnuts for our neighbors and friends and we plan to make it a neighborhood tradition for Christmas.

This is a great way to make some old fashioned popcorn. The handle does well to keep you away from the fire and keep the maker in the right spot. Have had a lot of fun with the kids making popcorn. Could be a little bigger but overall a great item.

This is a nicely built popper, attractive finish and a good gauge of metal to stand up to the heat.

Bought it last year and used it a couple of times over the summer to make popcorn while camping and it worked great. We used it over a campfire most of the time. One time we even used it with the heat from the chimney of a chiminea. We had no problems with the black coating coming off as reported in other reviews. It heats up quickly, so you don't need a real hot fire and never had a problem with the handle becoming too hot while in use. If you enjoy camping and popcorn, I would recommend this item.

I like the idea of this roaster. They are so hard to find! It looks poorly crafted and probably won't stand up to more than two or three fires. I figured for 25 bucks it would be fun to use it anyway on Christmas morning and ordered it. I am already regretting it because I had to add an additional 12 dollars for shipping and then another 22.00 for DHL. All costs in I have spent more than 55 dollars on this thing. Its really not worth that much to me. Ordering online has its glaring disadvantages! Wish I wouldn't have bought it. Canadians beware - this will cost you much more than the purchase price.

An item that is really hard to find. Hope to be able to use it when camping season open up.

I've wanted one of these for years and finally found this model at Amazon. It works great for both chestnuts and popcorn. The only problem was that the screw for the top handle was rusty and didn't fit, but it was easy to find a spare in my collection.

I absolutely love this cooker. After I start the fire in the fireplace, I cook the chestnuts and then the popcorn. Everything cooks perfectly. This is a must have if you like fireplace cooking.
