This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
Not only has this band gotten better with each album, but they were great to begin with. Chevelle is living proof thtat their still exists an audience for traditional rock music. Their is no glitz and glitter, no excessive electronics; just solid rock music. If you like albums like My Own Prison (Creed) and Tip (Finger Eleven) you should consider giving these guys a shot. If you have this album, you may even want to pick up their other 2 ("Point #1" and "Wonder What's Next") as both of these albums have the same great sound. To put it short and sweet, "It's a top 100 album." (This is coming from a guy with over 800 albums.)

This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
Keep in mind that this is the first Chevelle album that I've ever bothered to purchase. That being said, I found the singles "The Clincher" and "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along" to be quite good lyrically and melodically. Just in case you haven't had access to a radio in the past year, "Vitamin R" is a clever song about Ritalin abuse with some haunting backup vocals that really give this tune a life of us it's own. "The Clincher" is a powerful song in every way about claustrophobia and the fear of being buried alive.
But aside from those radio hit singles, not much else in this album stood out to me. Chevelle writes some great lyrics and can pump out some moody tunes, but I thought that the album became pretty bland about halfway through. After the first three tracks, I honestly couldn't tell one song from another unless I really tried to focus. Peter Chevelle's vocals became much like the drone of one of my professors in a two-hour lecture. Two exceptions were "Tug-O-War" and "Breach Birth", which brought me back into the album for a few minutes. The DVD portion of this album consists of the album encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1, interviews with the band members, and a remix of "The Clincher" called "(Version 103)". I was disappointed that there were no music videos.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
I thought this album was pretty good (considering this was the first chevelle cd i bought). When I first started listening to it I only liked the first 6 songs....but when I listened to the other tracks it totally rocked!! Later on I found out by watcjing videos on MTV that Chevelle had yet another two albums...so I purchased those as well, I'm not saying I was getting bored of This Type Of Thinking...It was just something about the other two, that made them my top band. So...my suggestion is to buy this one first.....
