Not only has this band gotten better with each album, but they were great to begin with. Chevelle is living proof thtat their still exists an audience for traditional rock music. Their is no glitz and glitter, no excessive electronics; just solid rock music. If you like albums like My Own Prison (Creed) and Tip (Finger Eleven) you should consider giving these guys a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Lyrics, But Rather Bland Overall
Keep in mind that this is the first Chevelle album that I've ever bothered to purchase. That being said, I found the singles "The Clincher" and "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along" to be quite good lyrically and melodically. Just in case you haven't had access to a radio in the past year, "Vitamin R" is a clever song about Ritalin abuse with some haunting backup vocals that...

Not only has this band gotten better with each album, but they were great to begin with. Chevelle is living proof thtat their still exists an audience for traditional rock music. Their is no glitz and glitter, no excessive electronics; just solid rock music. If you like albums like My Own Prison (Creed) and Tip (Finger Eleven) you should consider giving these guys a shot. If you have this album, you may even want to pick up their other 2 ("Point #1" and "Wonder What's Next") as both of these albums have the same great sound. To put it short and sweet, "It's a top 100 album." (This is coming from a guy with over 800 albums.)

This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
Keep in mind that this is the first Chevelle album that I've ever bothered to purchase. That being said, I found the singles "The Clincher" and "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along" to be quite good lyrically and melodically. Just in case you haven't had access to a radio in the past year, "Vitamin R" is a clever song about Ritalin abuse with some haunting backup vocals that really give this tune a life of us it's own. "The Clincher" is a powerful song in every way about claustrophobia and the fear of being buried alive.
But aside from those radio hit singles, not much else in this album stood out to me. Chevelle writes some great lyrics and can pump out some moody tunes, but I thought that the album became pretty bland about halfway through. After the first three tracks, I honestly couldn't tell one song from another unless I really tried to focus. Peter Chevelle's vocals became much like the drone of one of my professors in a two-hour lecture. Two exceptions were "Tug-O-War" and "Breach Birth", which brought me back into the album for a few minutes.
The DVD portion of this album consists of the album encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1, interviews with the band members, and a remix of "The Clincher" called "(Version 103)". I was disappointed that there were no music videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Album rocked...!, February 20, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
I thought this album was pretty good (considering this was the first chevelle cd i bought). When I first started listening to it I only liked the first 6 songs....but when I listened to the other tracks it totally rocked!! Later on I found out by watcjing videos on MTV that Chevelle had yet another two albums...so I purchased those as well, I'm not saying I was getting bored of This Type Of Thinking...It was just something about the other two, that made them my top band. So...my suggestion is to buy this one first.....

5.0 out of 5 stars The Extras RULE!!, March 30, 2005
This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
Ok, we know that this cd is really extremely well done and deserves the praise for this album sounding so good. What else could make this cd better? Well Chevelle put alot of extra stuff on this cd such as the whole album being preformed in studio and a couple videos one being never before seen make this worth the money for this again. Overall once again its awesome and I know if you like Chevelle you'll like this cd/dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never failing to keep my interests, again..., July 17, 2008
This review is from: Chevelle: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (Audio CD)
I like to make playlists of my favorite songs. All the songs on the album are on those playlists. That's about the best compliment I can give a band, being a true nobody myself. While these guys aren't your trend-setters by any means they do keep it going and keep it loud. I will say this for them: they certainly are pretty refreshing in a world of so much ghetto-glam.
Now this album, while sounding like Chevelle in every sense, the album is distinct from Wonder What's Next (the previous) and Vera Sena (the follow-up to this one). But I think that's the point. Bands who can have their own sounds and still not sound the same on every album usually show a bit more talent than those who don't change much of anything.
You can also see a developmental process in listening to each album. 5 more albums from now, who knows what we'll be listening to, but it will still be the same sound, just a different attitude. I think that's good because in life you are either moving forward or backward. There is no such thing as standing still.

Well first of all i'm oscar from mexico, i bought this product because chevelle is awesome, in this dual disc you will find beside the complete this type of thinking album in the cd side of the disc and in the other (DVD)there is an interview with the band talking about each song of the album. The thing i liked the most is the other version of "The Clincher" i prefer this version of the song over the Album one. And to end this review the complete album is also in the dvd section of the disc. The money u spend on it is worthy. by the way.. sorry if i wrote sth wrong, i'm from mexico see ya.
