4.0 out of 5 stars Great book but leaves off where ir really needs to accell., July 20, 1999
This review is from: Chevrolet Parts Interchange Manual, 1959-1970 (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
As a Classic Chevy enthusiast, I have used the book for a number of my cars: 59 El Camino, 70 El Camino, 71 El Camino, as well as many other Chevelles and Elky's. I have found the book to be very thorough, however, with quite a few exceptions of left out information. I think the book is a must have for any pre-70 Chevy restorer just for the information that is captured. I am very disappointed that the book stops at 1970 (1972 in some cases). In my opinion, the book stops right when it should accell. Any hotrodder or even original restorer would like to improve things with newer model parts. (Sway bars, disc brakes, engine parts, etc.) for their slightly custom Chevelle/El Camino, or otherwise. Knowing what fits is a huge factor in the restoration process. Instead, we are each forced to re-invent the wheel independently. Researching every detail can get very tedious. Wrecking yard scavanging is all that more difficult. I sure hope there is another book in the works to cover and interrelate later model stuff with the earlier 60's and 70's stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars should be called "Partial interchange manual", November 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chevrolet Parts Interchange Manual, 1959-1970 (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
This book is informative and easy to use However it does not cover the majority of body/structure parts nor does it cover all of the Chevrolet models. I own a 1970 Monte carlo and purchased this book to find out what reproduction or used parts would fit but it does not really cover this model. The only place I found anything about the Monte Carlo is in the Chevelle section and that is minimal! in addition there is nothing on 70 chevelle body structure much less 70 Monte. Other models/years are covered although not completly. Overall the information that is there is accurate but for the price I was expecting something that covered all the models that are in the year range listed as well as a more complete listing of the cars/years that are in the book. I have seen a Hollander exchange manual for several different years of cars and it covers a huge amount more than this book.
