This is the story of Derek Bennett, an ordinary man with extraordinary talent, who started out mending cars in a lock-up garage in Salford and became one of the world's leading builders of racing cars. A quiet practical man, Derek designed and built racing cars that were almost guaranteed to win. Many of today's champions drove Chevrons early on in their careers, including Gilles Villeneuve, Brian Redman, Tim Schenken, Riccardo Patrese, Keke Rosberg, Jody Scheckter and Niki Lauda. Derek Bennett died in a hang-gliding accident in 1978, but the reputation of Chevron cars still exists.
