5.0 out of 5 stars A Profane Genius
Louis CK is a wonder to watch or listen to. At first it seems as though he's offering up your standard observational humor, but upon closer inspection, he's really doing something far more insidious and satisfying. 3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty funny
I bought this CD because I enjoy listening to stand-up on my commutes. It had 2 or 3 really funny bits. Pretty vulgar in parts, so beware if you offend easily.

Louis CK is a wonder to watch or listen to. At first it seems as though he's offering up your standard observational humor, but upon closer inspection, he's really doing something far more insidious and satisfying. You're never quite sure whether he actually believes, for example, the horrible things he says about his wife and kids, and that's part of the fun. Is this a put-on, or is he really this bitter and nasty? Is this a send-up or a confession? Apart from the seemingly honest material and extraordinarily profane language, there's the spot-on delivery that seems both rehearsed and extemporized at the same time. One of the finest comedians of this or any time.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Comedy Albums in a long time, January 1, 2009
This review is from: Chewed Up (MP3 Download)
I'm an avid collector of comedy albums, and often prefer comedy to music. I haven't seen any of Louis's stand up before, but when i saw this album i had to get it, and i wasn't dissappointed. I laughed non stop. I listened to it 3 times through the first day i got it. His stories are hilarious and entertaining. Well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Heart Louis C.K., December 16, 2009

This is one of the funniest standup acts I've ever seen--and I've seen a good amount! It seems Louis C.K. gets better with age, b/c I've seen One Night Stand, one of his old ones, and it's not good at all, in my opinion. It's clear that over the years his material has gotten darker, more creative, and definitely funnier. I think Louis C.K. is a demented genius, and his work is original and brave!

5.0 out of 5 stars All hail King Louis, January 25, 2009

I had the pleasure of seeing Louis live in Portland, some of the material on this album was present, and so very worth hearing again. I laughed until I cried and my ribs hurt the next day. Louis takes material that is normally over done and banal (my wife, my kids) and turns it into something so horrific, you can only laugh.

Not for the easily offended or faint of hear- Carrot Top fans (whoever you are) stay away, this guys' the real deal and stands tall on the list of great, risk-taking comics such as Bill Hicks, Doug Stanhope, and Patton Oswalt.

Down with mediocre hacks!

5.0 out of 5 stars DON'T MISS the bonus tracks, January 14, 2009
This review is from: Chewed Up (Audio CD)
I saw this tour live and I've seen the DVD too. Louis is as brilliant as ever. But the "Sweatpants & Vodka" bonus track on this CD made me piss on myself. In it he talks about the nightmare that is American health insurance and it's so funny and horrible I almost crashed my car listening to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comedy Gold, August 2, 2011

Louis Ck is in my opinion one of the best comedians of his generations. Chewed Up is definitely for those who don't mind vulgarity. I normally don't mind some racy subjects, but to have most of an entire album on the various aspects of it, it's a fine line to walk where you aren't just listening to someone trying to get a laugh by saying the grossest thing they can think of. That is not Louis CK. His stuff is not lazy, and it's very much based in reality. His ability to turn stressful situational stories into a kind of resigned "This is my life" amplify the laughs.

Louis CK's material is very much about his life, his family and his past. Luckily he doesn't pander to his generation (or any generation for that matter) by telling primarily jokes that only parents will appreciate. It's tough to make jokes accessible to everyone without coming off as being too broad, but most of the bits here are very solid. He also has a style that I don't see very often, that being working the audience into a laugh before the punchline(s), and then dropping two or three punchlines back to back to magnify the laughter.

Louis CK is also very self-deprecating. Fortunately it's not in a self-pitying way, but more in an everyone-look-how-stupid-I-am kind of way. Chewed Up is one of my favorite comedy albums of all time. There's something really funny in it for everyone, but most people will enjoy it. Both my mom and Grandpa have laughed at bits from this album. If you enjoy the comedy of people like David Cross or Patton Oswalt, chances are you will greatly enjoy Louis CK.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic set - he is an original voice and laugh out loud funny, February 10, 2010

saw him at the improv in L.A. years ago...Had come to see Patton Oswalt and Louis CK was one of the opening comics....very funny guy - he was working out some of the bits on Chewed Up that night....Time passes and I heard him on The Sound of Young America doing press for his sitcom, Lucky Louie. Made a mental note to check for his releases. The beginning of this year I saw the concert footage of Chewed Up courtesy of the Roku box.
Had to pick up the audio recording....he is hilarious....if i were to pitch him to you in a Hollywood screenwriter style " he would be a cross between the slice of life comedy/storytelling style of Bill Cosby and the anger/clarity of Doug Stanhope coupled with the exasperated incredulity vibe of Bill Burr
fantastic work

I listen to quite a bit of stand up and this is great start to finish. Louis CK is always a pretty solid choice. Worth the few bucks.

I don't follow comedians but having recently watched "Louis" on tv, I decided to check it out. Louis CK is hilarious at pointing out the every day ugly things, that people do and don't want to talk about, and he brings it out in the open. His attitude, demeanor, and delivery are spot on, making for an all together funnier than hell comedy album.
