Breathtakingly beautiful,
This review is from: Cheyenne Nation (Audio CD)
I just saw Joseph Fire Crow in concert and was simply amazed at both his talent with the Native American flute and his knowledge and respect for the Cheyenne culture. He has made it his life's work to teach others about the beauty of our vanishing First Nations ways both musically and spiritually."Cheyenne Nation" is his second recording with Makoche Records, and is a little bit more "modernized" than his first recording "Fire Crow." "Cheyenne Nation" features piano, guitar, bass, whistles and percussion along with flute and vocals. This is a must-have for any fan of First Nations music, flute music, or anyone who appreciates beauty. Joseph Fire Crow's songs can also be found on the "Tribal" series (Tribal Winds, Tribal Waters, Tribal Fires) from EarthBeat! Records. In the words of Joseph Fire Crow, "The beauty I find in the flute challenges me as a human being. This journey has only begun and it will span the rest of my life." I have found this to be true in my own life as well and I wish you peace along your journey.

worlds within worlds,

Cheyenne Nation moves so easily & with such power and grace from the modern and stately 'By My Own Hand' to the jazzy, strolling bounce of 'Bobtail Horse' and back (or sideways) to traditional sounding dances & honour songs to the purity of unaccompanied voice in 'Mother Wolf'...it's a tour de force. Joseph is one of American Indian music's very finest musicians...and Nation is simply superb...

I really like some of the works on this Cd but some I don't measure up to the others. This is a good CD but not a great one as it is a bit uneven.
