NOT FOR EVERY NECK PROBLEM,

I have degenerative disc disease with nerve root compression at C5 through C7. The pain in my neck radiates out to my arms and back and up into my head. Sometimes it is disabling. I bought this because nothing else short of surgery has worked for more than a month or two, and I've put off the surgery (ACDF) for ten years. I had tried the over-the-door traction devices a few years ago and I think they cause pain by stretching ligaments as much as they relieve pressure on nerve roots, and the relief is, like everything else, temporary. This inflatable neck collar certainly fits well and seems comfortable but it causes a different set of pains, just like conventional traction devices. It pushes down on the shoulders as well as up on the head. I think it probably works well for some people but it didn't work well for me. AFter using it for 20 minutes, my neck and trapezius muscles hurt even worse than before. Your mileage may vary. Good luck to all neck pain sufferers everywhere.

If you have problems with neck muscle spasms and neck stiffness like I do then I highly recommend this device for you. One thing I've learned since I started using it is that a little stretch goes a long way.

Great Success For Me,

I have learned that I have compressed, bulging and herniated discs in my neck. My first chiropractor ordered a traction device that did not work at all for me. I thought $100 for this device was outrageous, especially because the bulb constantly pops off and I cannot get it seeded in any deeper. But that's my only complaint. Whereas the traction device did NOT work because I have a very flat skull in back, the ChiSoft pushes up from the shoulder, fully encircling my neck, doing what I need it to do.

I used the device for 3-4 weeks. My Chiropractor suggested an intermittent program (i.e. Pressure for 3-4 min release for a minute then pressure again for 3-4 min.). It worked well and provided much relief from my C3-C5 problem. One day it blew a leak that I could feel on my neck. After that the device could not maintain adequate pressure. I'm in the process of returning it for a replacement. I recommend that users be mindful of over pressure. A device that costs this much should have an overpressure relief system/valve. John T

Just bought this device and tried it out.. First warning sign that it wouldn't work was the statement I read when I opened it up "Do not over inflate device". This should have told me it wouldn't work on my neck , which is 19". This device is not for the body builder type. It did absolutely nothing to help my neck...Have since contacted seller to see if we can come to an agreement of sorts... |
