5.0 out of 5 stars dark and gripping, November 18, 2010
I loved this book, from the style of the drawing, the darkness of the heavy black inking and the development of their characters and their relationships.

Can't wait for the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite comic takes medium to new height, November 18, 2010
What can one say about Troy Little's Xeric-award winning graphic novel 'Chiaroscuro' that hasn't already been sung over the internet? If you haven't had the chance to dive into this opus, you are truly missing out. The book is masterfully rendered in sharp black & white, reminiscent of Dave Sim and Frank Miller. The pacing is fantastic, Little having a supreme grasp on story-telling and cinematic style. A background in animation helps provide solid layouts in which everything has its own space; the characters can breathe, and the dialogue is clear and balances well with the sequential artwork.

The only thing I can say as a detriment is that I would love to have MORE of 'Chiaroscuro' and the misadventures and mystery of Steven Patch. For an Islander and a Canadian to have produced this work, in between days with a straight job(s), moving, raising kids... it is a monument to the human creative spirit. Kudos Mr. Little!

1.0 out of 5 stars no plot, May 5, 2010
this comics has no plot, mediocre black and white pictures, no sharp or witty dialogue.

it is a story of an artist slacker and his no-adventures. he mostly talks to his friend but there is no fun, no intelligence. i bought it and thought maybe kevin smiths "clerks" style.

"boring" cant even explain this book.

the worst comics i have ever read.
