4.0 out of 5 stars Some stories have nothing to do with CHIBI VAMPIRE September 8, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
First I want to make one thing clear: I have no problem at all with the author Yuna Kagesaki writing and publishing stories that are competely unrelated to CHIBI VAMPIRE. Like all other writers she has every right to produce stories that are totally independant of each other and she should not have to only do stories that are about the same group of characters.

My only real problem is the publisher's decision to include stories in a book that's called CHIBI VAMPIRE that actually have nothing to do with the CV series. I mean, if you're going to publish stories by Kagesaki that are completely unrelated to any of the characters or events of CV, then please put them in a seperate book and call it, maybe "Yuna Kagesaki Anthology". You can even advertise it as being "From the author of CHIBI VAMPIRE". Just please don't put stories that have nothing to do with CHIBI VAMPIRE in a CHIBI VAMPIRE book. It's like if I took a couple of Rumiko Takahashi short manga stories and included them in a volume of INUYASHA. My guess is you'd probably read it and go,"What the heck are these doing in an INUYASHA book?! They don't belong here!"

To be fair though, all the stories are entertaining enough.

REVERSE BABYSITTING:
If you've read the other person's review of this book, you already know what happens here: a ten-year-old girl must take care of her nineteen-year-old neighbor who's suddenly started acting like a baby. What makes things worse is the poor girl's parents are currently out, meaning she has to take care of him all on her own. To be honest I wouldn't mind at all the story being in this book if there had been just one little change: if the girl were Yuika Teranishi (Anju Maaka's bratty classmate from one of the CHIBI VAMPIRE side stories).

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice epilog to a beloved series September 2, 2010
Format:Paperback
For most beloved manga series, once they are finished they are finished. There is very little opportunity to go back and revisit the characters and see what they have been up to lately. And that seemed to be the case when "Chibi Vampire" (Japanese title "Karin") ended with Volume 14 (Chibi Vampire.

But artist Yuna Kagesaki apparently had a few more stories hiding out in her pen, and so "Chibi Vampire: Airmail" serves as a nice epilog to a fun series. There are a few other stand-alone short stories by Yuna here as well. The first two stories are of bizarre love, and I believe are unconnected to the "Chibi Vampire" story.

"Reverse Babysitting," has no supernatural elements but is the story of ten-year old Marimo Sakamari and nineteen-year old Takuma Toi. They are next-door neighbors and Takuma has always treated Marimo like an annoying brat, until one day Takuma inexplicably reverts back to a baby and needs constant care from his "mommy" Marimo (including diaper changes!). This story was an odd one, and seeing a ten-year old girl change a nineteen-year old guys diapers was a bit too much for me!

The next story, "Searching for my Beloved," was amazing however. This was a genuinely chilling horror story, with too many twists and turns for me to describe the plot without ruining it. But it was great, and I could read a whole book of stories like this from Yuna Kagesaki. Honestly, with all of her cuteness I didn't know Yuna had a story like this in her.

"The Vampire of the West" is the real "Chibi Vampire" side-story, originally published in 2008 in "Monthly Dragon Ace" (Japanese title: "Karin Gaiden: Nishi no Mori no Vanpaiya").

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME! October 26, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I fell in love with Chibi Vampire from the beginning, and was HEARTBROKEN when it ended! However, I was OVERJOYED when I found out there was another volume being published! While I enjoyed some of the back stories (the first short story was rather irrelevant and I didn't like it very much, but the second was great, even though it wasn't relevant either), I would have liked to see more of Karin and Kenta (and Kanon-chan!). All in all, however, I am SO glad I bought this. :D
