Product Description

All Chic Chef ceramic knives feature ergonomically designed soft grip handles. Chic Chefs ceramic knives are made of a revolutionary, high-tech ceramic called Zircnoium Oxide that is 50% harder than steel. The exterme hardness, superior corrosion resistance, chemically inert, and naturally non-stick surface are the main property highlights of Chic Chefs ceramic knife blades. In your kitchen these properties relate to a long lasting sharp edge (stays sharp 10 times longer that steel) that will never rust or stain. Ceramic blades are far more hygenic than metal - they will not react with your fresh food (will not turn food brown like metal knives) or alter the taste by depositing metal ions. Because Ceramic Zirconia is second in hardness only to diamonds, they will retain their edge for thousands of cuts. Unlike traditional steel cutlery, ceramic knives typically do not need sharpening. But, if you think that they need a tune-up, Chic Chefs will use our special diamond sharpening wheel (the only way to sharpen ceramic knives) to return your knives to like new condition, for FREE, as long as you own the knife.

sharp May 15, 2009

This unit is incredibly sharp and does a great job, however, the flimsy plastic holder for the ceramic blade simply will not hold up and easily breaks, making the unit worthless after a few uses. I cannot condemn this product alone as every ceramic blade unit I have bought seems to be built this way. The online picture suggested it was built differently but on arrival I found it was not.

Ceramic blades are great, but they need to be better mounted.

Wonderful Peeler! March 16, 2008

I have owned this type of peeler before, and believe me: the blade is SHARP! When peeling vegetables, it helps speed the job along with great ease. It's easy to use on carrots, "taters", and the like. Even works on chocolate blocks (though not recommended due to the way chocolate melts quickly).

One of the characteristics of ceramic is the ability to not cause food to oxidize immediately (as steel can do at times), but the best part is the ability to stay sharp without issue. The one I had previous to this lasted over 10 years of use --- that's amazing for a peeler. It's still good, and I still use it ... I just wanted a 2nd one.

Peels well! December 29, 2007

We are very satisfied with this peeler. We had one before it for many years and used it quite often unitl it broke. Before we purchased this one we purchased a similar one with a metal blade and although it worked almost as well it rusted everytime we washed it.
