5.0 out of 5 stars Great skate for first timer!
My son got these skates for Christmas from "Santa" and just loves them! As a young five year old he was on the borderline of the baby vs. big boy skate in terms of size. Since he's more on the cautious (ok...fearful) side and really doesn't want to fall, I had been leaning more toward picking up a pair of the "baby" skates just to get him comfortable with being on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but don't last long
Got these in June of 2010 for my 5 year old and have used them about 20 times since. They were pretty decent skates while they lasted but then the sizing spring and various other parts began falling off while skating and could no longer be put back together. Will have to replace and will try another brand or style, maybe not adjustable this time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great skate for first timer!, February 7, 2007
My son got these skates for Christmas from "Santa" and just loves them! As a young five year old he was on the borderline of the baby vs. big boy skate in terms of size. Since he's more on the cautious (ok...fearful) side and really doesn't want to fall, I had been leaning more toward picking up a pair of the "baby" skates just to get him comfortable with being on wheels. After speaking with my mom, however, I decided to go with these because as she pointed out they look SO MUCH COOLER (they look like awesome inline skates, but have the benefit of being quads), so he's more likely to want to master them. Of course she was right! He stopped unwrapping his other presents just to put these on!

To help him get comfortable on the skates I let him wear them around the house (with pads and helmet) in the carpeted rooms. This boosted his confidence enough for him to finally venture out onto the driveway (with my assistance). He's not yet speeding along, but he's no longer afraid either. I know that by springtime he'll be skating like a pro.

For folks like me who may be concerned about this skate possibly being too advanced for a beginner: the wheels don't resist like the more babyish skates, but they also don't spin with abandon. They give just enough so a more confident skater can move well, but resist enough so that a new skater is not slipping all over the place. Also, my son says they're comfortable. It was very easy to adjust the size. And did I mention that they look AWESOME?!?!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Skates, December 29, 2006

I bought these skates for our 4-year-old who wants to be just like his older siblings. The skates have a sturdy construction with a hard shell to support the ankles and our son is having a great time on them. The only issue I have is that the toe stop seems a bit cheesy and will probably need to be replaced more quickly than I would have expected. I did a lot of shopping around and am entirely satisfied with these skates and expect he'll grow out of them before they wear out (aside from the toe stop, that is).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Skate, November 6, 2007

I purchased these last year for my son's 4th birthday. He's loves them! He's still learning but manages them fine. The best part is they will fit for years because they're adjustable. Would recommend for beginner or a little more advanced young skater.

My son loves these skates. He was hesitant about using rollerblades so I got these. He started out walking in them, but was skating within about 15 minutes. They look great and are very well put together.

Grandson would'nt take them off, he love them. This is a very well constructed skate, but wish that the wheels were a hard rubber rather than a hard plastic, he then could use them at the rink. We think that the wheels could be changed, or better yet we could buy a pair of Chicago Pros. GREAT SKATES!

I was looking for one skate which is adjustable. Since my nephew wanted this for a long time, I wanted to present him something good in quality. I did lot of research, and found this one as good w.r.t quality and price. So far its so good... Since its adjustable his brother also taking advantage of this... They really loved this skate...

My 9 year old grandson requested a pair of shoe roller skates from me for his birthday. These were just what he wanted, and he has practically "lived" in them ever since! To our knowledge, he had never even attempted to skate prior to this. They were well worth the money it cost me, since he has enjoyed them so much and gotten so much use out of them. They are also holding up very will under the "abuse" of his learning to skate!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great skates, March 17, 2010

This is the second pair of these skates for my grandson. He just outgrew the first pair after two years and passed them on to his younger cousin. The older pair was still in great shape after constant wear. The boot gives good support to the ankles. Since they are adjustable they last through several shoe sizes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skates that expand, January 31, 2012

This review is from: Chicago Boy's Adjustable Quad Skate (Sports)
We couldn't want to get these, took my sons skating on my birthday and they loved it. These were a smart purchase as they expand and they fit just fine. 5 yo can almost do it all himself.

This was a Christmas gift from Santa, and was a huge hit!! The fact that the skates grow with my son, through Size 4 shoes is an added bonus.
