4.0 out of 5 stars I'm just happy to have a deep-dish pizza recipe November 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a collection of 10 recipes of the most popular chicago foods, complete with the back story of each dish and detailed instructions. I have been wanting a deep-dish pizza recipe for a while, and I am thrilled to have one that appears to be vetted; however, I have not tried making this yet. What is nice, though, is that the recipe comes with an additional recipe for Chicago-style italian sausage for the pizza; although I'm not certian what is so unique about ground pork with salt, pepper, red pepper and fennel.

I did find it interesting that mint is added to the gyro meat -- I will have to try that next time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost like being there!!! June 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I grew up outside of Chicago eating food like this. Have looked everywhere for a good Italian beef sandwich. The search is over as the recipe is right here. Thank you! Can't wait to try the rest of these great recipes. Each one sounds easy to do.

I highly recommend this book.

The recipes are great! I have been looking for a great cheesecake recipe and this one is it. I'm also looking forward to trying the Chicago style ribs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected! June 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to admit I wasn't expecting much since the word 'Dessert' is misspelled on the cover!

There are only ten recipes in the book, but several of them do look like they have potential. The Gyro recipe sounds really good, since I've found that the fillers in commercial gyro's don't agree with me any more. The Italian Beef recipes sounds good as well. The photographs were quite well done - a nice touch in an e-cookbook and one I wish more authors would employ.

The downside: Really needed a proofreader. Formatting needs help - a linked table of contents, recipes starting on their own page with links back to TOC, and nutritional information would all be improvements.
