An essential knife for every kitchen. Chop, slice and dice all fruits, vegetables and meat.

Full Lifetime Warranty

World Kitchen promises to repair or replace, or at World Kitchen's option, exchange for an item of equal or greater value any CHICAGO CUTLERY knife of shears with defects in material or workmanship for the lifetime of the product. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from negligence, misuse, abuse, institutional/commercial use or use for purposes other than normal household use. This warranty does not cover wood blocks or wood cutting boards.

Knife Care

  • For best results, hand wash your knives with soap and water and dry immediately.
  • Soaking wood handled knives in water can remove the natural oils from the handles.
  • DO NOT put knives in the dishwasher. Dishwasher use may cause nicks on the blade edges. Additionally, the heat and detergent may have a corrosive effect on the knives and damage the handle.
  • DO NOT cut through bone with knives or use knives to poke, pry, or separate frozen foods.
  • DO NOT use knives as screwdrivers or can openers. This is not their intended purpose and can bend or break the blade or edge.

Holding and Using DesignPro Knives

Innovative Control Grip guides your hand to the best position on the knife for superior control and cutting.
Place thumb on control grip dots. .
Place index finger on the opposite side along the grip. .

Sharpening Knives

Sharpeners are not for use on scalloped or serrated edges. For optimum performance, knives should be sharpened after every couple of uses. Use a scouring powder after use to clean and remove metal particles from your sharpening steel. After cleaning the steel, rinse with water, dry it thoroughly, and store in a dry place.

  • Hold sharpening steel point down on flat, stable surface such as a tale or cutting board.
  • Angle knife blade approximately 15 degrees from the sharpening steel.
  • Imagine the knife blade is at approximately 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock.
  • Pull the knife down and across the sharpening steel in a slight arc, pulling the knife handle toward you. Repeat on the other side of the steel.
  • Repeat these steps 8-9 times, alternating the right and left side of the cutting edge.

One of the better sets of knives I've used/owned in a very long time, spanning multiple different brands too. The Design Pro knives hold a sharp edge for an incredibly long amount time so whenever I use them it feels like they are fresh out of the box. The are very well balanced while cutting, slicing or chopping and fit in my hand surprisingly well. The comfort factor of the knives is what surprised me the most, how well the knife fits into my hand makes proper cutting technique very easy...All in all the knives thoroughly surpassed all my expectations I had prior to purchasing and continue to amaze me every time I use them. Go Chicago Cutlery!

I'll start this review by saying I am not a chef and have never before owned good-quality knives. Most of my kitchen knives are cheap little things that don't always slice a potato neatly. So that is my starting point.

This 8" knife is for much larger projects than cutting potatoes. My first application was cutting up a roasted bird. To give you an idea, I was able to actually just cut the bird in half right down the middle - it is THAT sharp.

It feels good in the hand and is easy to clean. Definitely a great addition to my kitchen.

When I picked this knife up I wrongly thought I was buying an 8 inch long knife, not an 8 inch bladed knife. (I know, I know, I was in a hurry and just not thinking.) Anyway, it arrived and I groaned, another of those huge knives that get very little use around here. Chef's knives are supposed to be indispensable in the kitchen but they haven't been around this place. Generally, they feel too heavy and awkward in my hand. I prefer a smaller blade for most chopping and slicing. Well, that is about to change. I love this knife. It fits lightly in my hand, is easy to grip, slices through most everything like butter and I never feel like I am going to lose a digit - the knife feels like an extension of my hand. I made a stew this afternoon and sliced, minced, chopped everything with this knife. From the onions to the garlic to the corn and tomatoes, it was a breeze. The knife also cleans up easily and has a hard plastic cover for drawer storage.

I will follow up if any issues develop but can say this knife is well worth the investment for most home cooks.

Highly Recommended.

I'm extremely pleased with this knife. The handle is weighted perfectly, and the finger placement marks really are ideally located, giving you a perfectly balanced knife. The knife is easy to hold, and is very sharp - I was able to slice ultra-thin slices of several vegetables; an onion, a tomato, a cucumber and a green pepper. I used it to finely dice a garlic clove, and it was excellent with a small amount, too. It washes up cleanly and easily. Comes with its own plastic storage sheath, if you want to use that. The only thing I can't comment on is how long it will hold its sharp edge and how well it sharpens, as I've only just gotten it. I will come back in a few months and update, but for now, I highly recommend this knife.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The Chicago Cutlery DesignPro Chef Knife is a very well made knife and, in my opinion, looks appealing. However, the main selling point of this series of knives is their innovative handles. Basically the makers of this particular knife in the series took the rather thick handle of the traditional knife and slimmed it down at the point where you press your thumb and index finger against the knife as you hold it which should allow for better control of the knife. I compared the ease of cutting with this knife and against a traditional knife and came away with the feeling that the Chicago Cutlery knife does allow for better control. I was able to better control the blade as I chopped carrots and also, I felt that the knife was easier to bring up and chop down with. Finally, my fingers felt less fatiqued after using this knife as compared to the traditionally designed one I currently have. An additional feature that the makers of this knife put on their product is laser etched dots where your hands are supposed to go to make it easy for you to figure out where to hold the knife. While Chicago Cutlery advertises these "guide dots" as the main selling point of this knife, I think that a user will naturally gravitate to holding the knife at this point anyway, and indeed, to me, the main difference between this blade and the ones I have used before is the slimmed down middle of the handle which I think is a very good idea. This knife is very well constructed and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good chopping knife for their kitchen.

I've been using this knife for a while now and it is still the sharpest knife that I have owned. It's a fraction of the price of a really expensive German or Japanese knife, but has great quality.

I love the grip, it really shows you where to hold the knife to give you better control. It makes me feel more comfortable holding it because I don't have to hold it on the blade which is what most professionals will recommend.

I've strictly been handwashing my knife as recommended (as I do with all knives, since none should be put in the dishwasher if you don't want them to rust or dull) and it has held up very well with no issues.

I've also used a couple of other knives from this series, including the Bread knife which is really cool with its offset handle so you never knock your knuckles on the counter when cutting bread. i would recommend them all.
