Chicago Cutlery 2-in-1 Knife sharpener combines the technology of an easy-to-use pull-though knife sharpener, the tradition of a sharpening rod, and the ergonomics of an engineered handle. This knife sharpener can be stored directly in your storage block in the sharpening steel slot or in a drawer. Better yet, the sharpening rod unscrews so you can use the handheld unit alone and then store in a drawer. Simply insert your fine edged knife into the sharpening slot and, while applying slight downward pressure on the knife edge, pull the knife out. Repeat this 3-4 times, and your knife edge will be realigned and sharpened. For you traditionalist, you can use the sharpening rod to hone your knives. It's your choice. The ceramic rods in the MagnaSharp sharpener will sharpen any fine edge knife, simply, safely and conveniently.

Now that I am sharpening knives, I must use a rod after the sharpening to recalibrate the steel and draw off miniscule bits of metal. This tends to dangle in the Chicago Cutlery knife block.
