5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the best
I have been using this pan for years, and they (I have three of them) still look like newly bought. Cakes bake in a breeze, without burning, or not browning enough. This is the best pan for cake baking I have found, and do not doubt to compare it favorably with any other much more expensive cake pan.

3.0 out of 5 stars So close to being great.
I bought two of these, made a cake, and washed them in the dishwasher (the description says they are dishwasher safe). As I pulled them out of the dishwasher, brown rusty water drizzled out from under the lip around the top edge. As I looked closer to the underneath edge of the lip, I can see that it has rusted already! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, because...

The weight of these pans are wonderful - I own three of the 9" rounds and have never had a problem with sticking or burning. You can't go wrong with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, May 18, 2008

This product is so simple, it is hard to get too excited about it, but here goes...

Our previous cake pans were purchased in the department stores. They main selling point was their "no-stick" coating. These worked fine - at first but the no stick quickly wears off and the pans are thin & dark and the next thing you know is that all you are worried about is avoiding burns.

We chucked those and got these. OK "no-stick", forget about that. Use PAM (for baking) instead. These pans are heavy gauge aluminum - HEAVY. They retain their shape and they spread the heat evenly. NO hot spots! They are heavy gauge aluminum - HEAVY. They don't burn which means they clean up easily (remember the PAM thing). They are heavy gauge aluminum - HEAVY... period. There is no funky coating to flake off down the road. Take care of these and you will have them for a long, long time.

Bottom line - we like them and we'll be buying more (in different sizes) soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars so high ...., March 28, 2008

Other than being heavy and solid feeling, these pans are unusually "tall" ... taller than any I've ever owned or used. The heavy metal produces a fine cake layer. So far, Chicago Metallic has had the highest quality baking pans I've ever used.

As I pulled them out of the dishwasher, brown rusty water drizzled out from under the lip around the top edge. As I looked closer to the underneath edge of the lip, I can see that it has rusted already! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, because every Chicago Metallic pan I own has rusted almost immediately under the edges even though they supposedly don't rust. I'm just surprised to see it on something billed as dishwasher safe. I love their pans, but I hate the instant rust.

Perfect depth, excellent cake surface, and wonderful heat distribution. This is the reward for from-scratch bakers.

I love all of my products from Chicago Metallic. They perform well, don't warp and clean easily. I have been replacing all of my non stick bakeware and the commercial line from Chicago Metallic is excellent.

We use these in my bakery/cafe and they are strong, durable and cook evenly. They will last a home cook forever and us for years to come. The price here was great, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite layer cake pans, June 28, 2010
This review is from: Chicago Metallic Commercial 9-Inch Round Cake Pan (Kitchen)
I own Chicago Metallic cake pans in several sizes, and love them. They're true to size and perfectly straight sided. The heavy, light colored aluminum ensures an even, light crust (not dark and heavy, the way some nonstick pans are). In my experience, the nonstick pans require butter and flour anyway, so the aluminum pans clearly come out ahead. They're also excellent value for money--they cost less than some lesser pans.

I love this pan. The sides are actually strait for good cake making. Very heavy duty.
