When I first grabbed this pan in its packaging, I thought there must be something extra included underneath the pan. Nope, this pan is just built out of heavy gauge steel. This pan is made by cutting a pattern out of the steel and then all 4 sides are folded together and the flaps from the long sides wrapped around the ends. The seams are so tight on the inside it almost, almost being the key word, looks like they were welded together. The top edge has a wire rod running around the perimeter and then the sides are rolled over it to give the pan rigidity. Both the rack and pan have a non-stick coating which should make clean-up easy. I'll have to see about that after I roast a whole chicken.

Lastly, this pan comes with a 25 year warranty.

UPDATE: After using this pan for 30 days I'm more than happy with my purchase. I've roasted 2 beef standing rib roasts, 2 5-rib pork roasts and several chickens. Clean up is a piece of cake. Even things that seemed baked on washed right off including the rack. The pan did take on a slight patina after the first use but hasn't gotten any worse.

After Roasting & baking meats on a cookie sheet with a makeshift cake cooling rack for a grill, I can only say that I'm ecstatic about my Chicago Metallic Pan.

It's the best constructed pan I've ever seen and has a heavy looking coat of Teflon. It looks like something you'd find in a pro kitchen. The pan is quite heavy and almost impressive. It's really well constructed.

I cooked boneless/skinless chicken breasts today coated with those French's French-Fried Onions according to the recipe on the F-F'ed onion can (Hey! I'm a 66 year old guy and it was pretty high tech cooking for me...)and the result was wonderful in that no grease accumulated on the bottom of the chicken, I didn't have to turn the chicken because of the height of the Teflon grill and it cooked quite evenly (165F). I was amazed.

The clean up was just ridiculous. I placed the grill in hot soapy water in the sink, soaked it for a couple of minutes, wiped it off, rinsed and it was done. Of course, it's dishwasher safe so it went there too.

I almost feel like taking the pan/grill with me wherever I go so I can show it off.

This pan does not hold up to any kind of usage. It was used on a limited bases say once a week for 6 months. For the first 2-3 months it was great but slowly things began to stick. Before use I would grease the pan a bit. Then later the pan began to rust at the edges. I started using foil to help with the struggle of clean up. Then pan began to become discolored and more rust spots developed. I would not recommend this pan to anyone unless they had money to waste. I ended up using this pan as a flower pot and buying a different pan for cheaper. another note is that the pan is also a bit small.

We bought this broiler and have used probably 10 times. Today after broiling some chicken, we set the pan on the top of the stove to cool off. After a couple of hours, I went into wash it and found grease under the pan all over the stove. To our surprise, we found a safety pin size hole in the bottom of it. I've never had a pan do that. I liked the size of this pan but also on the down side, the grill has always been a bugger to clean. Also where the rack legs sit on the inside of the pan, it rusted shortly after a few times of using. The ratings looked pretty good for this pan at the time I bought it so I am disappointed.

I bought this for my smoker - as it fits perfectly AND has a rack (so you can put a liquid below your meat to keep it moist). Frankly, it is a great pan - non-stick and thus easy to clean (even the outside, where the smoke makes for a pretty good mess) - and I thought so much of it that I ordered a second one.

So why am I only giving it 4 stars?

Because after using it ~10 times, the "feet" of the rack start scratching the pan. Not a big deal for me given its use, but if you are going to depend on the non-stick, it is an issue.

After reading the reviews I thought I was getting a quality product that would last a long time. I have had this pan for about a month and the nonstick coating has bubbled off with normal use. I am not impressed!

I used it this week end to Tandoori roast a 4 pound bird, the pan is quiet how can i put it 'sturdy and substantial weight', its not one of those ordinary broiling pans than make hollow sounds when tapping on it.
The bird fit the pan very well, I kept a heavy duty foil below to make clean up fast, but i think the foil recoiled as i was moving the pan around and the liquid dripped on the pan, i was apprehensive for the coming hours of scrubbing but thankfully it did not need anything like that! Some warm water mild soap and regular cleaning brush , voila it was clean, even heating ensured that the biird was well cooked nor it was stuck on the rack upon removal.
In regards with the size, its not a massive pan, Having a small oven and small kitchen this pan suits our needs, so please look at the dimensions carefully before hitting the 'buy ' button.

This is a great product. It works well as a baking pan as well as a roaster/broiler. Clean up is easy.

I purchased this and was really excited based on the reviews. I purchased it a few months ago but didn't get a chance to try it until a few days ago with moving, etc. I decided to broil a few chicken burgers and the pan/rack definitely did it's job. But after the FIRST use the food was baked on the rack and hard to remove even after soaking. The pan was a little challenging but after using some kitchen comet, it came off but still no luck with the rack. Finally I decided to soak the two in cleaner. Well....the pan AND rack started peeling. Since I waited so long to use it, I can't return it. Waste of money.
