This is about the same as all the other off brand rotary tools but with a few more attachments, a variable speed control (works VERY well), and a kinda funky/quasi-useful case.

If you're looking for a big set of very cheap, acceptable quality attachments this is great and to tool itself works fine. No weird smells when run for too long or under too much strain (my previous tool would smell up the room if used that way). I'm very happy for the price!

Only down side is that the case for it is, well, not very good (some pieces fall out of their places) and can be hard to get the main tool itself out (I solved this by removing 2 of the 4 clips holding it down .. works great now). Also the case is kinda large and can be hard to store.

It is not possible to make wobbling less than 1.5 mm no matter how carefully you will fasten a tool. Collets itself have offset of main holder off the rotating axis ~0.5 mm and most tools have miscentered heads, so instead precise carving or drilling you basically beat object by the wobbling tool. In my childhood I made a similar tool using electric motor, battery and a small collet. I swear, that toy was MUCH more precise!

The idea of this tool is good, but it does not last long on a charge. Also it is clumsy to hold--too long and weighty at the top. Not alot of power either.

Chicago cordless 9.6v rotary tool is the ABSOLUTE worst excuse for a tool. The battery only maintains a 10 second charge and they are imposs to find

The kit is great, but all the bits/sanders/grinders are worthless when the battery won't stay charged for more than about 30 seconds. No matter how long you charge it, it won't stay charged. The 9.6V battery has no power even with a new charge.
I'd recommend buying a Dremmel, at least you can find a Home Website to contact them. You won't find anyone on the internet to even ask about buying a new charger, they don't sell them, you have to buy a whole new kit.
I would rate the set as a +8 and the rotary tool as a -9, but the ratings don't go minus.

I just purchased one of these sets from Freddies a couple of days ago and I'm in love with it. It comes with a wide assortment of pieces and is very easy to use. It doesn't create a lot of mess, doesn't get hot to the touch and makes about as much (maybe less) noise as a sewing machine. So far I've been using it for glass etching but it works quite well on other surfaces, such as stone and wood. (I would recommend glasses when working with the glass as sometimes little chips fly off.)

That all being said, I gave it four stars because there are a few things I noticed:

1) the drill bits given to go with the set aren't particularly effective. I had trouble drilling through a milk carton to make a makeshift gardening container for my thyme cuttings.

2) I don't know what to do with the polishing compound and there aren't instructions on how to use it. It's almost a solid block.

3) The case is UBER annoying. It keeps everything tightly latched into place ... so well actually that I have trouble getting them out! Plus their oganization doesn't make much sense; I ended up rearranging it in a more personally logical way. I will be replacing that box with a much prettier organizer very shortly.

Other than that, it seems like a sturdy little tool. I'm looking forward to my summer with this thing! :D

well this is a starters kit (you get what you pay for).... a couple of pieces broke off and wear and tear super quickly when i was dealing with metal, hard aluminum, and plastic.

not the rotary head. just the attachments break and wear off easily.

AND THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS!!!!! on how to install the parts.

some pieces where either too small or just a little large, so I had to stick tissue paper in between to get some grip.

I would never buy this again. I could only recommend this for people who want to get a feeling of these kits. Other then that I would never recommend it to anyone else with experince

I found this product to be lacking torque to do the tough jobs. It handles the light jobs very easily. It's a great value with lots of extras.
