Don't waste your money and time,
By GusEmery "keeping it simple" (Arroyo Grande, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chicago Review Press Pharmacology Made Easy for NCLEX-RN Review and Study Guide (Pharmacology Made Easy for NCLEX series) (Paperback)
This book provides only the most general information about different drugs and the review questions are not the best. I was hoping for a book that provided some details about pharmacology in an interactive learning situation and this book definately does not provide it. A waste of money and time as the days tick down towards taking the NCLEX.

This book is a good introduction to pharmacology,

This book is a good introduction to pharmacology ... well that is if you can see through all the miscalculations that the author's make when converting from the metric system to other measuring systems. For instance: the authors claim that 44 pounds divided by 2.2 equals approximately 21 when the correct answer is exactly 20 (question 3 - 27). In the back of the book the author's claim that 1 grain equals 60 mg which is correct but then it gets interesting, they claim that 15 grains only equals 900 mg when the correct answer is 15 x 60 mg = 1000 mg. They even claim that 1 gram equals 900 miligrams - anybody in Europe know that the correct answer is 1000 miligrams. Math must not be the author's best feature.

NCLEX RN Pharmacology,

This book is helpful review for SOME pharmacology... the only problem is, it doesn't go into great detail in the review portions. And it doesn't have a section on psych drugs. But there are about 15 different tests all on pharmacology, and the practice questions are very helpful.

Basic dosage calculations incorrect,

This review is from: Chicago Review Press Pharmacology Made Easy for NCLEX-RN Review and Study Guide (Pharmacology Made Easy for NCLEX series) (Paperback)
I would not recommend buying this book to study for your boards. Question 1-17 and 3-27 have basic math errors in the dosage calculation. After discovering that two of the first three dosage calculations questions were incorrect, I no longer desire to study from this book. I contacted the publisher and he made the insinuation that I did not know what I was talking about, that I was calculating the problems incorrectly, and refused to refund my money. After studying chapters one and three, I decided that this source was unreliable since the author made basic math errors.

This is probably the worst NCLEX style book I have ever used. It is quite a small book (with a small amount of "easier" questions and skimpy rationales). I have heard that there are errors with the math questions, but I didn't use this guide for the math.

Great book to reinforce how the questions are given to you. I used this book and passed my RN NCLEX test.

Good content, floppy disk outdated,

This book is well organized by drug category and there is a practice test for each section. However, the book comes with a 3 1/2 floppy disk. Most new computers do not include a floppy drive as standard equipment, so I think it could use an update to a CD-ROM.

This is a great book! It has helped me out so much with learning the meds that I need to know to get through nursing school. (and then for the NCLEX.)
