Editorial Reviews

2009 digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Jazz great. Jack Teagarden was already a legend by the time the two albums compiled here were recorded. Chicago was, as the original liner notes make clear, a sort of reunion of old pals from the '20s. The excuse was to honor the Chicago Jazz tradition on a TV broadcast and such figures as Teagarden, Pee Wee Russell, Bud Freeman, Eddie Condon, Joe Sullivan and Gene Krupa were called into the studio to recreate old times. After the show, someone had the intelligence to record this group in studio conditions. The result was the LP Chicago and All That Jazz! 21 tracks. Lonehill.

If you love Jack Teagarden, and you think the 1950s were a neglected part of his career, this is the CD you want (along with "Meet Me Where They Play the Blues").
