This is a fun toy, and capable of teaching the entire ABC's ~
and also phonics ~
Yes ~ Chicco goes through the entire ABC's in phonics also.
There's a numbers song, from 1 to 10, and one that teaches shapes.

When the microphone is on, a voice can be altered to sound
like a 'monster' voice, and 'alien' or have 'echo' effects,
and there's a variety of songs to sing along with.

To get much of the intended fun with the karaoke part of the toy
a sequence of the buttons are needed.
Defiantly for 3 years and up, I'd think closer to 4 yrs old.

The toy seems well made and the factory voice has reasonable clarity.
This is a worth-while learning tool for pre-school children.

Chicco uses 3 AA batteries which are included.

My preschooler enjoyed this mic/karaoke machine. He was so excited to take it to school for show and tell. The microphone is a bit sensitive and if moved the wrong way, the feedback is loud and obnoxious. The various songs from different genres aren't very catchy. It has both English and Spanish versions. My son likes using the "monster voice". There are various voice altering options. Shapes and the alphabet are taught as well.

This toy is clunky and in some ways oppressive, with silly vocals and instructions endlessly looping, poor design for the recording function, tenuous claims for high educational values. Save your money and teach the alphabet and numbers some other way and then, if the kid is interested in singing, buy some sort of microphone/recording gadget that actually lets kids sing rather than singalong with tedious learning exercises and very very bad musical selections. What a waste!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I got this for my niece who is a fairly precocious 2 years and 7 months (just shy of the 3+ age rating). As soon as I showed it to her (before we ripped it out of the box!) she loved it. I showed her all the buttons and what they do and she immediately sat down and pushed buttons and sang into the microphone for a good 45 minutes straight - only stopping because we were having dinner.

There are several buttons and she liked some better than others. On the one side there are songs and genres: ABC, numbers & shapes and Pop, Reggae and Rock (I think). She was far more interested in the other side of buttons which modifies the sound of your voice. There was monster voice, alien voice and echo and of those she liked echo the best. She absolutely LOVED having the microphone in hand and hearing her own voice.

Each of the buttons ABC, shapes, pop, reggae have two songs each that they play and as long as you are pushing those buttons it won't turn itself off. However, since my niece liked to hear herself sing more than sing along to the songs it had it would sometimes stop in the middle of her singing and she'd have to press a button to get it to wake back up. It was a minor annoyance really considering how much she loved playing with it.

The little robot can speak and play in two languages English or Spanish although she wasn't exactly interested in the Spanish side until I explained that it was the Dora side. Even the adults liked playing with this toy and we would ask her what sound a lion makes when it was on the monster voice and then she'd just giggle and laugh and do it again. It stood the test of time when she came over to my house the next week and started playing with it again (and showing her dolls how it worked too).

My toddler can't get enough of hearing his voice amplified. We have a couple of microphones and none of them work as well as the Talking DJ. To be honest, the songs are nothing special and really not that great at all. The sound effects are cool, but my son wasn't that interested in them. He's a little young to be able to figure out the record and play button, but a 3-4 year old would be able to do that, I think. Overall, he loves playing with it! It's easy for him to carry around as well. It is a pretty fun toy.

I got this for a pirateer swash buckling toddler who also likes to sing, dance and loves the sound of her own voice. She loves Chicco Talking DJ. (So does her older brother who is ALSO a pirate.) Chicco is durable which is a good thing when it comes to the rough play of the toddler set. My pirates love Chicco (ages 3 and 5) and I hope yours do too!

My niece and her friends love this toy. They mostly use the voice changing feature, and they take turns with the microphone.

The cord restricts you from going very far from the actual toy.
this made my son very unhappy and then just didn't want to have to deal with dragging it around anymore.

For the price I would say it is hard to beat. There are a few things I wish were different, it would be nice if it would let him just do the microphone for a long time, after a minute or less it shuts off.
