COMPLETE CHICCO LITEWAY REVIEW,
By mom to 3 (So Cal) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Chicco Liteway Stroller, Fuego (Baby Product)
I bought the Liteway in Fuego from Amazon, it was the best price around. When I go it, I didn't really like the color. It's an orangish red, I thought it would be deeper. Should have gone with the topazio... But anyways. I'm a 4th time mom with a lot of stroller experience. I've owned all kinds! Too many to list!
Liteway Pros 1. A full one-hand recline (really flat!) my 3 month old is very comfortable in this stroller. Easy to change a diaper in this stroller. Definitely usable from birth. 2. Safety harness is awesome, great fit. I like that the snap part is covered, so you can't pinch your baby's skin. Also 2 shoulder positons. 3. Stroller height. great for tall parents. 4. Adult cupholder. it's large, so you can fit more than just waterbottles. 5. Front wheel locks- great for locking straight to go across the grass. Also very easy to remove the front wheels. 6. Leg bunting- It's attached and stored under the leg rest. It's not large however and my 3 month old has almost outgrown it. It's not a feature for kids 7 months or older I think. 7. It's not too tippy. I can hang a medium size diaper bag (fleurville rerun)on the handles and it doesn't tip over when the child is not in the stroller. 8. Super easy to fold. (just like Maclaren.) It has an auto lock when you fold it. I have successfully opened and closed it while holding my child in the other hand. 9. So easy to steer! I had to drive it one-handed across a bumpy wooden bridge, and had no problems! 10. It's narrow enough to fit through tight spots. 11. It's self-locking! This is a huge deal for me because I can close it and load it into the car one-handed. Cons. 1. Viewing window in canopy. It's not covered, just tinted, so it lets in A LOT of light- which happens to fall right on my son's face. Had I known that the window was not covered, I would not have bought this stroller. 2. Canopy. Size is just OK. Although, when unattached to the back, it does rotate around to the front to block more sun (but the zipper portion dangles in front of my son's face and annoys him somewhat. 3. Weight- this is not a small stroller. Don't let the name fool you, it's not Lite! it's about 20 lbs. The Pliko P3 feels lighter! 4. Folded size. It really is not that compact. It's about 1.5 times the size of Maclaren Quest when folded. It takes up a lot of the trunk space in my Yukon behind the 3rd row seat. 5. Really small basket- I thought that it would be bigger. I can only fit my Baby Bjorn classic and 2 vhs videos in there. No WAY can you fit a diaper bag. (so I just hang the bag on the handle instead) 6. no snack tray 7. Always have to push 2 buttons to put down the childs foot rest. Now that he's 2, he is constantly pulling up on the foot rest and peeling off the seat fabric from the attachments, which I then have to put back on. HATE THAT! All in all this stroller is OK. I'm REALLY dissappointed with the canopy. Why can't they make a big canopy like the BOB Joggers? For the price, I guess it's OK. I do wish I had spent the 40 extra dollars and bought a peg perego Aria, Joovy Kooper, or Zooper twist instead...REALLY big canopies on those that rotate to the front... UPDATE: So now I've used the stroller for 2 months and have decided that for the price, this is an above average stroller. The canopy problem I had I fixed with a Kiddopotamus Rayshade for 15 bucks. You can fold the stroller with the Rayshade attached, so I can honestly say that this is a complete stroller now. I'm taking it to Sea World soon and am confident I will be happy. The other strollers I liked were atleast 40 dollars more than this stroller, so I feel that this stroller is a real bargain now. Although if given a do-over, I would probably buy something else. I would change the rating to 4 stars, but I can't figure out how to do it!

This stroller is the best!
I'm on my third child and with each child I've been in search for the perfect stroller...I think I found it! I always wanted light weight, fully reclining, storage, shade and safety seat belts and this stroller has all of that! and the color is so great! it arrived super fast and all i had to do was click on the front wheels and we were ready to roll! My 6month old baby loved it and falls asleep in it no problem! it is so easy to maneuver and it really is a smooth ride! and it folds up really well, doesn't take up much room at all! I am very happy with this stroller.

After doing searches on strollers, going to the various baby stores and locations, we decided to get the Liteway series stroller, and after using it for 1 week, we love it. The stroller has several features similar to the maclaren series do: the folding methods and locking mechanism; it also has the window and cup holder, unlike the 'cheeper' maclarens. The stroller is not as lite in weight as the C6 series, but if you need a true lite weight stroller (under 10lbs), then the C6 series will be your only option. The best feature is the price for what you get: $100 for all this where most strollers in the feature range are twice that or more.
For us we wanted: 1- Easy to store and travel with around town 2- Does not take up space in the trunk of a 4D sedan 3- Can hold the lil guy for several years after birth (6months -3yrs old) 4- Can recline fully- I'm talkin about flat, not angled. 5- A basket underneath 6- An adult storage area- cup holder, pocket, etc.. This stroller has it all. If you can find it in the store, try it out, but in the end, this one had all the features we wanted.

We bought this stroller specifically to take it on vacation to Europe. We hoped it would at least last two weeks on vacation. I can say this stroller is worth every penny. After trucking around Europe for two weeks - in and out of the car several times a day - this stroller is worth twice what we paid for it. It has some great features that other strollers twice the price don't have. Here is what we loved.
- The seat fully reclines easily with one hand. Our son could easily sleep in it. It is also great for diaper changes anywhere. - This is a sturdy stroller. We had no problems pushing it over all types of terrain including cobblestone streets and gravel paths. We were pretty rough on this stroller and it is still holding up beautifully. - The bottom of the seat is adjustable to move up and down which can create a pram-type atmosphere when you put the seat all the way back as well. - The foot cover was great for chilly days. We could wrap our son in a blanket and not worry about him kicking it off because it was secured with the foot cover. This also provided great protection against the rain. - The basket is ingeneous! You can store a few diapers and wipes in the bag and still fold up the stroller. We also found that converting the storage basket into a backpack came in surprisingly handy on our trip. Overall it's a great stroller. It's very comfortable and handles well. I would absolutely buy this again and recommend it. Our son is five months old and was very comfortable in this stroller.

I did not necessarily need a new stroller, but I had been using my Graco Metrolite for over 3 years, in sucession, for my two daughters. One day I was just fed up with unloading in and out of my Honda Pilot. I wanted something smaller, but didn't want to spend too much since this might be our last child (my youngest is almost 2 yrs old). At the same time, if we do end up having a 3rd child I wanted something with more features than just the Chicco C6 for $65. I researched for weeks and went back and forth between the Liteway and the Maclaren Quest. If I had been able to get a Quest for $150 on eBay (it would have been an '07 or '08 model) in the color I wanted I would have pulled the trigger, but I kept waiting to see if one came up and when it didn't I chose the Chicco. Now that the Maclaren Quest has had all those recalls I am glad of the decision I made! Not to mention that I love this Chicco, especially for just $99. You cannot beat the quality and the bang for the buck. I am extremely picky, so you know when I say this stroller rocks that I must really be impressed. Even my "do you really need a new stroller" husband was excited by the chic look and high quality frame. The weight was the one thing initially holding me back. I can tell you, honestly, that it is SO light. It is not 20 lbs at all. I wrote Chicco directly and they confirmed it is 17 lbs. But, it doesn't even feel that for some reason, maybe because I was so used to the Graco. I can fold it down with one hand and then it locks by itself. Then, I grab the handle and throw it in the trunk. So easy.
Other pluses, the color (Fuego) is great, very gender neutral and I love orange-y red. It really is more red than orange. The recline is the other feature that is better on the Liteway than the Quest. It literally goes back almost all the way, something I know I'll appreciate if we have a 3rd child. My daughter does not nap in it so I cannot attest to how well that works. The shade has more coverage than I expected, more I think that the Quest. I saw a Quest in person but did not see the Liteway before purchasing. The Chicco fabric is more sturdy in my opinion. The wheels are durable and it pushes very easily. Two reasons for the 4 star rating (vs. 5) is that every time I open it, I have to adjust the section that is under the childs knees (maybe it's called the leg rest) down. You have to push two little buttons on either side simultaneously, so it takes both hands. I guess the way it folds up it pops the leg rest back to the straight out position, which is fine for infants but older children need it down so they can reach the foot rest. Not a huge deal, but one little extra step before I put my daughter in. Also, in the mall the other day I noticed that while turning sharply with one hand I had to exert a lot of strength to steer the stroller. My child is only around 22 lbs, but truthfully I'm not super strong so maybe it's just me. I am 5'3" and the stroller is a great height. I thought the handle bars might be a little too high but they are perfect. The underseat storage is adequate, not huge but fine for my needs. I have a diaper bag with stroller loops on it so I just put my bag on the handlebars. Speaking of which that is another PLUS to this stroller. My very heavy diaper bag does not make the stroller tip without my child in it. That is huge for me because alot of the time I am just using it to get in and out stores, and then my very independent daughter wants to get out and roam around with her big sister. I am very happy with the purchase. If I had seen this stroller in person first I am sure that would have solidified my decision before I purchased on-line, and would have saved me the weeks of deliberation between it and the Quest. Note: I also looked at the Britax Blink, which I saw in person. I thought the seat width was a little on the narrow side. Also, someone else reviewed that the seat fabric didn't seem as cushy. I didn't think to notice this in person so I can't say, but it weights the same as the Liteway so I say don't spend the extra $50 for it.

I spent several months researching for a stroller that had everything I was looking for. With 6 kids I have always regretted the stroller purchases I have made in the past and didn't want to make the same mistake again. I am super happy with my purchase of the Chicco Liteway in Fuego! I know we will be able to use for a few years with our smaller kids and if we were to have another baby I still won't have to purchase another stroller!
Overall key points I will make: *I was worried about complaints of the basket size, but honestly, it is big enough for a "day-tripper" diaper bag. I will say that if the seat is fully reclined, you can't access the basket easily, but if the seat is reclined, my child is likely asleep and I don't need to access it. *I wasn't sure of the Fuego color after a few reviews said it was more "orange" than "red", but it looks red to me! No, it is not a deep red, but it is also the most gender neutral of the 3 colors offered in my opinion and will hide dirt marks better as well. *yes, I have noticed that one side of the canopy will pop off when folded, but really not a big deal to me, and I am satisfied with the size of the canopy. *It isn't super light, but I can easily pick it up and carry with one hand by the handle. It is closer to 20 pounds than the weight listed on the sites description. * The on hand fold is super easy, but in Florida we do wear flip-flops 80% of the year and you have to catch the release just right with your foot or it hurts your "toe-sies". * The handle height is comfortable enough for me at 5ft6in and my hubby at 6ft2in. I haven't noticed kicking the back of the stroller when walking as some reviews mentioned. It turns on a dime and since the front wheels can lock, grass/gravel doesn't slow us down! *Our 1 yr old sits comfortable in it (as well as our 2 & 4 year olds!)- the seat is deep enough and seat depth can be adjusted by bringing up the leg/foot rest (which also houses a handy fabric boot intended for smaller babies but I have used the boot to cover my sons feet and legs when it unexpectedly rains. *My absolute favorite thing is that it fits in the back of our SUV with room to spare! I was NEVER able to fit a stroller in the back without folding a seat down (& with 8 people in our family we need every seat!). It fits in the back easily and I can still fit a few bags/packages with no problems. On trips where we need all of the space in the back for luggage/coolers/etc I can slide it in on the floorboard behind the front seats and the 2nd row of seats and it still leaves leg room for our tallest child's legs/feet. *The cup holder is my only complaint - hanging off the side it worries me about it breaking off when I throw the stroller in the car and frankly, I tend to need more space to toss stuff with 6 kids (they're always handing me something to hold onto). I ended up taking it off after a few days. I purchased the Buggy Buddy and it solved all my problems (one side of the Buggy Buddy has to be unhooked to fold the stroller, but it's not an inconvenience to me. I really liked the Peg Perego Si for the added features & lighter weight the Chicco didn't have but for over $100 MORE, is just wasn't worth it! I was able to purchase the Chicco for even less than our local stores on Amazon even with the extra purchase of the Buggy Buddy. Super find for the money!

This stroller is the best umbrella ever! May be a little heavier but it's not like you have to lift your child in it. If you can't lift 19 lbs. then how do you pick up your kid? front wheel make really tight turns--I use this stroller for every walk 2x a day. Seat reclines all the way for naps and harness is easy and comfy for even a 2 month old

Love this little stroller,

I love this little stroller! I just got it this weekend and we have already used it three times. twice in crowded restaurants that didn't have baby seats. The stroller is narrow enough to maneuver through a crowded space, while being comfortable enough that my 17lb baby was happy enough to stay in it for long periods of time. It drives great, we even took it on a brick street and it was wonderful. I love that it fully reclines, I had to change my son's diaper in the stroller and it was very easy to do. The fabric is very nice and seems durable. I expect that this will last for years!
The only reason it gets 4 stars and not 5 is because, (1) I would love if it had a belly bar, (2) a parent console would be nice, but the cup holder is more than you find on most umbrella strollers, (3) the basket is really small. I have a columbia backpack diaper bag and it wont fit at all, but my medium size purse fits fine. Although I can put the diaper bag on the handles and it does not tip over even without baby inside. It folds and unfolds easily enough that even my husband can do it (lol) and the JJCole bundle me fits in it while folded which is nice. The handles are very comfy and at a good height. I'm 5'6" and its great for me. My friend is a few inches taller than me and she said it was a great height for her as well. The canopy is pretty large, not as big as the city mini but still a good size. The harness is kinda hard to undo which is good so that when my son is bigger he wont be able to get out by himself. I love the hideaway boot. It will be great to help keep blankets from falling out as well as being a cover for weather/rain. The adjustable footrest is also great. It keeps my son from sliding down when I have him parked but not buckled it. I was between this one and the city mini.... while I still think that the city mini has the superior fold, for half the price, the liteway is awesome! Overall -- I love the liteway and would recommend to anyone who is looking for something light and compact.

Great stroller,

This review is from: Chicco Liteway Stroller (Baby Product)
I did a lot of research on strollers, both online and in the store. This seems to be as perfect as they come. One of the most important features for me was the reclining seat back. This has an easy 5 point recline, and goes what appears to be completely flat. Canopy is great and can be zipped to the stroller back. While zipped, it provides great protection for a reclined child. When unzipped, you can attach stroller covers (like a JJ Cole Bundle Me) and can allow for ventilation, if needed. Seat is much more comfortable than most umbrella strollers, with soft padding and wider area. 5-point-restraint with adjustment for infants is amazing. I wish I had bought this when my daughter was younger. We have the Chicco Cortina travel system, which is also great, but the straps on the stroller are much too long for an infant. I felt like I always had to attach the car seat for safety, which was irritating when traveling. This stroller also has a foot cover that comes up to provide additional protection for an infant or smaller child who is reclined. Handlebars are higher than most umbrella strollers, making it much more comfortable to push. Has a removable cup holder for me. Adjustable leg support. Canopy is fairly large. It is certainly larger than most, and I don't think my daughter would be comfortable with it coming down any further than it does. The basket is amazing. The basket bottom is actually a backpack. You can either just throw items on top, or you can stick them inside the backpack for additional protection. I recently went to Disney World (unfortunately, without this stroller) and this would have been amazing for getting on and off the busses. I always had to empty out the basket every time we collapsed the stroller. Also, there are times when we have to park the stroller somewhere, and this allows you to just grab the bag and still have all your stuff with you. The bag is very easy to snap on and off. I can also pack the bag at home and then attach it when I get the stroller out of the trunk at my destination. Seat seems to be high enough that you don't kick the back of the stroller as you push it. Folds and opens easily, even with a lightweight stroller cover still attached. Has a carrying strap. When pushing strollers in the store, this one felt significantly more secure than more expensive strollers. It does not fold up as small or weigh as little as the most basic umbrella stroller, but all of the additional features make that seem insignificant. Size seemed about the same as other strollers with similar features. I can still easily put this in the trunk of my Passat with plenty of extra room for other things. I can also carry this while carrying my daughter without too much effort, and I'm certainly not a heavy lifter. Wheels can be adjusted for pushing on even or bumpy terrain, and offer smooth ride for child and easy maneuverability for parent. And it's attractive! Color on my screen looks kind of orange, but it is actually a true red. The first time I used this I was going for a walk in my neighborhood. I saw a total of 2 neighbors (1 of which I didn't even know), and both of them commented on how nice it looked. I am so impressed with this stroller. I feel no need to take my large stroller anywhere, even for long days out.
The only feature that seems to be missing is a cup holder for the child. There are solutions for this though, including one of the cup-strap things. I guess you also don't have a parent console, but if this is important to you, you can always buy one for low cost and attach it. Really I think anything you could say is missing, can easily be added with an inexpensive accessory product.

I bought this after a lot of research. It is NOT lightweight but I decided this was the least important feature for me in an umbrella stroller since I would really only be taking it in and out of my trunk. We got it and I loved it. Our boy was very comfortable in it and it was so easy to roll. However, the belt clip broke on the second use. Normally this would mean a negative review but there are always duds. It was so incredibly simple to get a replacement. Just called Chicco, sent them pictures and my information and I have a new stroller on the way. If that one has problems I will obviously change my review but for now, I can't wait to get my replacement stroller.
