2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Designed
We just purchased this stroller for our son who is just turning a year old. We wanted something lightweight and stylish as we just stopped using our heavy double stroller. This stroller is lightweight, under 12 pounds. We also really liked the look and color scheme. However, this stroller is almost impossible to collapse. You have to push down on this button and pull on...

Because I walk around the neighborhood all the time, my 2 1/2 year old daughter is still trekking around with me in a stroller. The Combi Soho stroller I had bought when she was 7 months old had served its purpose, but I was continuously frustrated with the fact that as she got heavier, it seemed as if the front wheels had to be lifted over every crack in the sidewalk or else we would get stuck.

So when I decided to get a new stroller, I had a few built-in requirements. And rather than purchasing a stroller online, I went to Babies R Us and put my daughter in for a few quick test rides. I'm happy to say that the Chicco had met all my requirements:

- The number one requirement had to be a smooth and easy drive. And this one is awesome! The wheels are big and rugged enough (but not too big, like those jogging strollers) to handle bumps, cracks, etc. in a New York City sidewalk
- The handles are SOO comfortable, especially with the foamy grips, and at a perfect height (I'm 5'6"). I wanted to move away from the single-bar-across-type stroller so I could hang a couple of bags on it when we're out shopping.
- The stroller is lightweight and easy to close, so we can bring it with us on vacation
- A decent size storage basket is important to me, too. I usually carry around a lot of stuff and some of the lightweight strollers come with flimsy baskets.

I was prepared to spend around $100 but if I truly found something I loved, I would have spent more. And even though I did test drive those other, more expensive strollers (Jeep, Peg Perego, Trimph, etc.), the Chicco still had the best ride!

I've had the stroller for two weeks now, and I still actually look forward to using it! My posture is even much better because I don't have to use so much energy to push it.

I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this stroller!, August 16, 2006

This is the third stroller I've purchased for my 21 month old daughter. Before this one we had the Inglesina Espresso. I was really satisified with that one until the cloth and basket ripped. After searching for a while I decided to get the Chicco C5. It was so easy to put together. I loved the fact that it included a cup holder and rain cover, which the seller didn't disclose. It is very comfortable to use and the 5-point harness works with my daughter. The handles are comfortable and at a good height (I'm 5'6"). The handle to carry once the stroller is closed is very handy. Especially considering I live in Japan and have to close the stroller frequently at the train stations. I thought the stroller was orange, but it is actually red. It looks very nice, though. Besides the basket, it has a handy pocket in the back. It steers great in tight spaces and doesn't take a lot of space in the trunk, which used to be a deal with my previous stroller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stroller, worth the money!, September 26, 2005

This review is from: Chicco C5 Stroller Alaska (Baby Product)
This stroller is great. I have owned probably 10 strollers between my 2 kids, and this is by far the best lightweight one. I liked my graco stroller that you could snap the car seat into, but it's just too huge. This one is comfortable for my baby (he's 18 lbs), and small and light enough to get in and out of the car easily. Most importantly, the handles are the correct height. Most cheap umbrella strollers are so uncomfortable to push, as you have to hyper-extend your arms and back to push it. I wish I had just spent the money for this stroller in the first place rather than going through all the other ones! Do yourself a favor, and buy it! A good stroller is an investment, and you will use it all the time. I just wish this one had a cupholder. But I read in a review that you can buy an attachable one at BRU, so I will most likely do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stroller, August 30, 2005
This review is from: Chicco C5 Stroller Alaska (Baby Product)
We just bought this yesterday. It glides when you push it. I bought the Britax Preview a few monthes back and love that one as well. The only thing with these two is that they have no cupholders. That is the only downside. This stroller is great though. It is made out of canvas, easily washable, it has a two position footrest and the rain shield. Very European.
I would highly recommend this to anyone. It folds up nice and small. I can fit three strollers in my car with this one. The price isn't too bad considering the competition. Well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars YAY!!, September 8, 2005
This review is from: Chicco C5 Stroller Alaska (Baby Product)
We had the Chicco Capri, great stroller except for a few things like the tiny useless basket, and the handles were SHORT! Even for me and I'm only 5'3! BUT the C5 is all the good of the Capri and MORE! The handles are MUCH taller,my husband who is over 6ft can comfortably push him,and the basket is big enough for our diaper bag! Also,my son is much more comfortable sitting and laying in this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Umbrella Stroller, December 14, 2006

This review is from: Chicco C5 Stroller Alaska (Baby Product)
We bought this stroller (in another color) to have a stroller that would be easier to use with our Cavalier. I originally wanted a Chicco Caddy stroller cause it costs less but I'm glad we went with this one. I'm 5'10" and my husband is about 6 feet tall and this stroller is very comfortable to push. It may actually be one of the few strollers that is harder to push for a shorter person. It feels sturdy and well made. Even when the baby wasn't in it and the diaper bag was hanging off the handles it stayed upright. The stroller back also reclines fairly easily but you have to be careful when putting it back up if the baby is sitting in cause their arm can get pinched. Thankfully we noticed before he got pinched. It is light and folds in such a way that the wheels don't leave the ground which is a lot easier than most umbrella strollers. (Picture the Graco gravity fold of the Quattro Tour which we also have). We've gotten to the point where we use this stroller more than the Quattro. One con is the basket underneath may be considered small but hey its an umbrella stroller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this-make sure you get a 2006., July 31, 2006
This review is from: Chicco C5 Stroller Alaska (Baby Product)
I bought a Chicco C5 stroller from another website, it arrived and I used it for maybe 4 days. THen, I noticed the backrest was bent. It looked really uncomfortable for my little girl as it hit her in the lumbar area strangely. So, I called customer service and told them of the problem and presto! No Problem, they said. They mailed me a brand NEW stroller, 2006 the same week. Backrest problem solved, and, this one has a cupholder. Maybe it was just a design defect on the 2005 models...This is a great stroller. Love it.

I am really pleased with this stroller. I love the fact it came with a drink holder - not sure if that's a recent thing, since I read some reviews saying they didn't have one. It is the kind that's removable, but it works.
I have only used this a couple times and I do think opening and closing it is a little tricky... Maybe it will be easier after I use it more? I hope... The concept is easy, but maybe mine is just not broke in yet? Or I'm doing something wrong? I hope it loosens up for our Disney trip coming up. It's the main reason why I purchased it.

Overall for an umbrella stroller, this one is great! It has everything I was looking for and the price was cheaper than I thought I'd end up spending for all those features. Even though I have not mastered the opening part of it, collapsing it is very easy. I would still highly recommend this stroller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value-a high quality stroller at a great price for parents on the go, April 6, 2008

I bought this stroller as an upgrade from the stroller I registered for originally. I have a Combi stroller that I like, but after having used this one, I am a Chicco convert. The higher handles on this stroller make it more comfortable for both my husband and I to push. It is easy to maneuver through doors and has a decent size basket for a compact umbrella stroller. Nice that it includes a cup holder and rain cover (unlike other brand where you need to buy these items separately). Fairly compact, lightweight and good for travel. We bought this before a trip to Florida and it was great at the airport as well as at SeaWorld. My 1 1/2 year old daughter seems to like the ride and even slept in it well. The seat reclines nicely and has a range of positions. The colors are great and it has a great design look to it. Completely comparable to a Maclaren (in my opinion) but for a lower price. I highly recommend this stroller! Only problem I have encountered is that I occasionally have trouble getting the locking mechanism to lock when the stroller is folded to go into my trunk. I can usually do it but sometimes it is temperamental.
