It only requires one hand to complete the folding action, which makes it the perfect stroller for on the go families. The seat is adjustable to multiple positions and only requires one hand for folding. A great feature is that it includes a raincover. The cover protects the child not only from the rain, but from the wind and cold as well. Parents will love the large, convenient basket underneath the seat. 5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY..., February 5, 2006
This review is from: Chicco C5 Umbrella Stroller (Baby Product)
First let me say that I love the online reviews on this site. I use them all the time before making any major purchases and they have saved me a lot of money, time, and hassle. I have written several of my own reviews on other products as well. That being said, I have to say that I'm really very baffled by the reviews on this stroller. We bought it after much consideration and test driving at our local BRU store the other night. I have to wonder if the stoller we bought is the same one that so many others have complained about! The main issue seems to be the "flimsy cardboard back". Well, on the one we bought, the back is made up of what feels like 3 sturdy plastic panels that I tried to purposely bend and couldn't. Perhaps the design was very recently changed, but in any event, ours is definately not cardbord or flimsy. We have used it for 3 different outings and my 13 month old is happy as a clam in it. He's fallen right to sleep in it 2 out of those 3 times. As for storage, yes, storage space is limited, but we're not dealing with a travel system here. This is an umbrella stroller, folks, and I've yet to come across any umbrella stroller regardless of brand or price that has a large storage space. Same with the cupholder issue. We simply bought one at BRU for 5.99 and it fits great. Problem solved. Bottom line, I went with my gut on this one and I'm so glad that I did. This is a great umbrella stroller for those of you who are tired of lugging that bulky travel system everywhere and want something samller and easier to deal with. Plus, this one comes with a raincover so you don't have to spend onother $20 to get one. Don't be mislead by reviews saying that this is a bad sroller because it's not. It's sturdy, easy to use, and does everything a high-end umbrella stroller should. We love it.

UPDATE 03/31/2006
Ok, we've been using this stroller frequently for nearly 2 months now and I thought I would go ahead and update my review. It disheartens me to see that so many have had a problem with this stroller. I think what's happening is that there are still a few of the older ones floating around out there that have the flimsy backs on them. Chicco fixed that problem and the newer ones are great. The back on ours is very sturdy and we haven't had any problems with it at all. My son is almost 15 months and weighs just over 20 lbs and is still very comfortable in the stroller. He'll sit in it for long periods of time and never fusses. In fact, he usually falls asleep in it. My point is, many of these reviews are not based on the stroller as it is now. Check it out for yourself and you'll see. It's a great buy for $90.00! We've thrown away the box and receipt, since I have no reason or intention to return it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent umbrella stroller, March 28, 2006
This review is from: Chicco C5 Umbrella Stroller (Baby Product)
After having quite nice biceps lifting our Quaddro Tour stroller in and out of midsize car, I decided to buy a nice umbrella stroller, which I could keep in the car and still have some space for groccery bags. Initially, I had my heart between C5 from Chicco and Mosaic stroller from Graco, so I thorougsly studied all coins and pros of both models. I've read previous reviews about problems with this stroller and it's C-shape back and was very cautious when I went to the nearest Babies-R-Us store to give it a test drive. So I wasn't surprised then the floor model had exact problem with the back as discussed. But I took a risk and bought one to see if the rumor of Chicco fixing the problem is true. Also, knowing very nice B-R-U return policy, we bought Graco Mosaic stroller to test it at home with my 8-month old daughter.

Here are my comparison between those two models:

1. Chicco has better colors! I don't now if Graco desighners have color-blindness or not, but the stroller is suppose to be for babies and should have babies colors, not some funeral black or brown or military/navy green/blue! Also Graco desighners should think about people that live in quite sunny regions, such as California and Florida, there these dark colors could accumulate dangerous heat around the baby...

2. The weight of C5 is less then Mosaic's. C5 has very useful handle, so you can carry it without hugging the stroller as for Mosaic.

3. Folding mechanism of C5 require using one hand, while Mosaic can be fold by leg, although it is kind of tricky movement and require some practice.

4. Most important thing - the back: rumors are true and Chicco fixed the problem with C-shape of stroller's back, so now it has quite sturdy plate inside, which do not bends when you folding the stroller (at least in models, made from November 2005)! Also they added the similar autolock as Mosaic model have. (in floor C5 models there was very cheap-looking hook as you can find on 10$ umbrella strollers)

5. Both strollers have similar back elevation mechanisms, no difference here.

6. Mosaic stroller has nice armbar, which my daughter liked a lot - she used her arms and rise her body with help of armbar in our Quaddro Tour stroller, so it will be useful for us to have this on umbrella stroller. But then you remove it from stroller (like if you child grow and could sit and go from the stroller then he wants, you will eventually remove the armbar) the remaindings look terrible and quite sharp.

7. Mosaic stroller can accomodate Graco's car seat, but this feature is not important for us, because my daughter sits in bigger car seat now.

8. While C5 has included raincover, Mosaic includes parental cupholder - both these additions you can buy separately in the store.

9. The disadvantage of Mosaic that finally turns us off that model is the brakes - you cannot move it up until you are wearing boots! I don't thing this stroller supposed to be driven only by fathers, serving in military.

So, after comparison between those two models I choose C5 and never regret that desision for already two weeks now! Hope, my impression will last.

I would suggest to all parents with defective C5 models to call Chico and had it replaced.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the last stroller I'll ever buy!!!, May 24, 2006
This review is from: Chicco C5 Umbrella Stroller (Baby Product)
After 6 strollers from full size travel systems, to the Graco Lite Rider, a non-name brand lightweight stroller, and countless crappy umbrella strollers, I thought I'd never find "the one". I was wrong!
After much research I went to BRU with the intention of buying the Graco Mosaic. Once I got there and compared it to the C5, I was more pleased with the C5. The Mosaic was VERY narrow and my average size 2 year old looked completely squished sitting in it. Not to mention it doesn't have a very deep seat so there is little support to the back of toddlers legs, especially ones whose legs aren't long enough to reach the foot rest. You can see my full review of the Mosaic for the other "issues" that led me to choose the C5.
The C5 is plenty wide, and is deeper so the legs are well-supported.
Here are the other reasons why you should consider this stroller:
*It reclines, and quite easily. No awkward pushing and pulling on levers trying to quietly recline a sleeping child.
*Folds up so easily, push one button and pull up on the handle, you're done!
*Manuevers like a dream, no sore muscles trying to push and steer like some umbrella strollers I've tried.
*Excellent height on the handles. I'm only 5'6" but most strollers leave me with a sore back from hunching over.
*The shape of the handlebars fits your grip more naturally. Plus they are well-padded and really comfortable unlike most rubberized or plastic coated handles.
*Has a storage basket underneath, not as big as a full-size stroller, but ample.
*Storage pocket on back of canopy. Perfect for keys, phone, or small toys.
*Carrying handle on the side for easy transport when folded.
*Only weighs 13 pounds. A little more than an umbrella stroller, but much more manageable than a bulky stroller.
*Lighter color schemes appropriate for boy or girl. Not the most beautiful colors I've seen, but much better than loud colors. Not to mention no cutesy patterns or animals. The Graco Mosaic is mostly black which to me would only attract heat and result in a miserable little passenger.
*Reasonably priced compared to the Mosaic, and especially compared to the Maclaren and Peg Perego.

I didn't give it 5 stars for two reasons:
*It doesn't have a cup holder. I was able to buy purchase one that attaches to the handle so not a huge deal.
*The canopy is short and pretty useless. It barely covers my son's head and offers little to no protection from the sun or other elements.

If you are on a budget and want a nice stroller but can't afford the Maclaren or Peg Perego, I HIGHLY recommend the C5. My son loves it so much we have to keep it in the house when we're not on an outing so he can sit in it or have his sister push him around the house in it!
